I stayed one night at the Holiday In Express located at 3630 E Cork St. in Kalamazoo, MI. My stay could not have been better! The room was great as was the breakfast. One item stands out above the others though. Abby W, who assisted me with my check in, was very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. She had a ready answer for all of the questions that I had. As the "face of your organization" Abby is a great representative of your organization.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end ot the building are quiter.

Initially from the oitside it looks like a normal fairly updated holiday inn express. Its easy enough to find off the highway, though i didn't see signs directing you.The only time i seen the desk clerk or actually any employee ws during check in after we rang a bell, she was friendly enough. I was in and out of the hotel several times throughout the night and no one present. Not that i guess it mattered, just fealt strange. The room i was given #101 was at first glance what i expected, fairly large, nice size bed, basic.. I sat my stuff down and went next door to 4 points to eat. Came back, went into the bathroom and noticed a sewage smell, almost like someone didn't flush, i looked around, nothing, but i ran water jn the sink and tub, maybe it had been a while since the room was used. .. the smell went away briefly. The bed although large and clean looking is way too firm for my taste, the pillows are ok, but too large almost body pillow size. Being on the corner it has 2 windows facing the parking lot and although the curtains are thick and block out most light, cars headlights were still leaking through and a lot of noise coming ffom outside. I could hear every movement in the room above me, creaking, walking, coughing, squeeking.. i went to go leave to get some tums and Nyquil, but couldn't ask the employee as no one was there, so drove around looking for a store, finally had to gps.. got back and parked on the side next to my room, the door wouldn't unlock, had to go through the front. Walk in and it smells like raw sewage again, ran water again and decided to shower to help try to feel better. Long black hairs were clinging to me and the shower curtain....gross... wash off quickly, lay back down. Still cannot get comfortable even on Nyquil, too much noise, too much light, too firm of bed.. dose off and ... 4:00am wake up to something scratching my door and turning the handle...was a little thrown off, later realized they slid my paper work and newspaper under the door... could not go back to sleep for a while again. When i woke up again i had to get ready to leave, bathroom smells like a turd is laying on the floor again... just got ready and left. Still no desk clerk, so just left key cards on desk behind the counter. I did not eat breakfast, since i did not sleep much and tried to sleep as long as i could, though my colleagues did and said it was ok.

All in all not too happy with the stay, wouldn't want to stay there again, at least in that room.

Room was nice, kind of noisy though. Shared shuttled with hotel next door confused as we didn't get picked up in time and then lady driver of shuttle expressed her dissatisfaction with is during the trip from airport to hotel. Breakfast wasn't that great, cold cereal, yogurt, boiled egg. Very average for this kind of chain. Likely won't stay here again but was business trip and didn't have much if a choice

This HI was our only option for lodging as they had a shuttle service to the airport that they share with there "Sister Property" Sheraton which is next door. We were supposed to fly out of Kalamazoo airport bound for Florida, but SIX flights were cancelled due to weather conditions. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us! They had menus for a place that delivered THE BEST pizza and beer to our room! We were also able to walk to the Sheraton where they have a nice bar and food also. I had to spend a lot of time in the business center to download our tickets and boarding passes-it was always available-locked to those who don't need to be in there-and fully stocked with paper and office supplies and a computer to use if don't want to drag out your own. There is coffee available 24/7 for free in the lobby, and the breakfast bar is one of the best I have run across in my travels for this type of self service set up. Nice place for you to eat and watch the news before you go. The shuttle service to the airport was great-such a help when our flights kept getting cancelled. This hotel is in the process of updating, and it has a bit of work before it is done. However, our room was clean and nice, the beds were GREAT-and it was quiet even though it was very close to the highway. Our coffee maker didn't work, and they replaced it super fast. The staff was very helpful and knowledgable, and it was the hotels greatest asset as far as I am concerned. I would go back without issue-top notch customer service.

Room Tip: Well stocked business center-if you want a quiet room they can put you on the side away from the hig...

vtowne01,

We were pleased to accommodate you prior to your flight to Florida. We all had our fingers crossed that during your trip the weather down in Florida cooperated better than here in Michigan. Hopefully, you will bring back some of the warmth with you on your return! We look forward to being able to accommodate you in the future.

Stayed here on a snowy January weekend Check in was fast and pleasant. Always could locate a desk clerk quickly. Breakfast well stocked and maintained. Pool area was warm and water temperature was OK, on the cool side but usable. Housekeeping did an excellent job in our room. Second time I have stayed here.

Room Tip: I prefer a first floor room for mobility issues, but it was noisy from the floor above. If you like...

Being warmly greeted by a friendly and helpful staff is an awesome welcome. The very clean, comfortable beds with crisp sheets and white clouds for pillows combined with the quietness of the room and the effectiveness of the window drapes to shield all light made my sleep experience perfect and consider to start remodeling my own bedroom. I like the Holiday Inn initials: Hi!
