“Amazing chef's dinner”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

Staying at Radisson for a meeting, dinner previous night at zazios was wonderful. Chef John told us about a chef's dinner the next night in Webster's. The chefs from each of the restaurants in the hotel, prepared a course with a paired wine. Food and wines were complex and amazing. The value of this wine dinner was incomparable. Anyone living within an hour drive of Kalamazoo, must not miss these dinners in the future!

Thank you very much for your kind review of Webster's Prime, Zazios, and the first ever Greenleaf Hospitality Group Signature Chef's Wine Dinner! We greatly appreciate the fact that you stopped in on Chef John's word alone, and that you were able to attend this very fun event! Thanks again!

PS Your wine is on it's way to you. Should arrive very soon!

“Fine dining but food is somewhat inconsistent”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Although Webster's is an elegant restaurant, it can be fairly noisy even with the pleasant live piano music in the background. My wife and I were surprised to be seated in a large and overly bright booth that could have accommodated 6 people. It was not very intimate and made us feel a bit like we were on display. Our server was friendly, attentive and efficient.

My wife ordered onion soup, creamed spinach and scallops. The onion soup came so heaped with large croutons that it looked more like potato soup, and it was not at all enjoyable. My wife said her creamed spinach tasted like frozen spinach floating in milk and covered in bread crumbs--again, she did not enjoy it. She said her scallops were delicious, however.

I ordered shellfish bisque, grilled asparagus, and an 8-ounce Angus tenderloin filet cooked medium. The cup of bisque was tasty but a bit on the skimpy side. My grilled asparagus was delicious--by far the best of 3 restaurant servings of asparagus that I have eaten over the last 3 weekends. My tenderloin filet was cooked perfectly and tasted nothing short of superb--definitely the best cut of beef that I have had in years.

For dessert, we both ordered flourless chocolate torte with raspberry tiramisu gelato. It looked and tasted wonderful, but the torte was somewhat difficult to eat with the spoon with which it was served. We each enjoyed 2 glasses of white and red house wines with our dinners. Although Webster's has excellent wine, beer and drink menus, we were disappointed not to see the attractive selection of Michigan wines that were available the last time we ate here.

Finally, be forewarned that Webster's is a relatively expensive restaurant. Our dinner tab for two came to $168, not including the gratuity. But the beef is the best in town!

“We simply were a distraction for the waitress”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

This story starts out with the hostess telling us it would be faster to eat in the bar, despite the absence of customers in both the bar and dining room. So we get seated in an empty bar with a local band setting up and testing their equipment (which distracted our waitress almost to the point of not serving us). The band proceeded to testing their equipment (which was less than 10' from us) produced a 110db feedback sound (nails on the chalk board), very dangerous for all of us. My ears are still ringing, 4 days later. The food was OK at best... Not worth the 100+ for 2 of us.

“Top Notch Food!”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

Very good food although expensive. They never rush you and the tables are not on top of each other like some restaurants. Go during the week when it's not crowded and relax and take your time. Seansonings on the food were great.
