Surprised at the positive reviews - we were a team of 35 people in Kalamazoo for a tournament, and we found the service very slow (though we were booked in a few days ahead and the restaurant was not busy) and the food only mediocre; small portions with higher prices than other Kalamazoo restaurants we visited. Half of the team went out for a snack after their dinner! Highly recommend Brewster's and the pub in the Radisson downtown - great food and value, and both can take large crowds too!

Our daughter attended a university in Kalamazoo so we have been to this restaurant more than once. The food is typical pub food - nothing outstanding. The service is always slow. On one occasion we were there with a group of 12, because it was a game night the place was very busy and service very slow. It was late and we just wanted to get on the road home. We were informed by the waiter that the computer was out so they were unable to give us our bill. We had cash - no need to use a credit card - but they couldn't run up the tab without the computer. One of the people we were with is a math teacher and volunteer to add it all up but no.... We waited for over 20 minutes for a bill and eventually got something and got out of there. But the last time we went there will definitely be the last. I made reservations here (against my better judgement) for our group for a post graduation meal. I chose it because the prices are not extravagant. We realized that we would be able to arrive earlier than our reservation and called ahead to see if they could move it up and was told they would see what they could do. We arrived about a half hour early. They were not ready for our group yet - there was another group that was just leaving. We had a drink and waited, and waited and waited. ...... etc. It did not seem that busy.... we waited and waited,waited........ you get the picture. When they finally took us to our seats (at the original reservation time) and, I kid you not, we were the only ones in the dining room!! We walked past 4(FOUR) other tables set for groups - empty!! In fact one of the empty tables was right next to the one they sat us at ! They literally waited for the one group back there to leave so they could seat us at the same table. Okay, we finally get seated, ordered, the service was typically poor and, to top it off they were out of one of the entrees and just brought something else in it's place! Did not ask/notify the customer - just brought something else. Amazing! So the entire meal took 2.5 hours. This restaurant is very poorly managed, short staffed, mediocre food - STAY AWAY!

The service was great! The food was good and not too expensive. $1.50 beers for happy hour was a plus too.

Great location for show night at the Miller Auditorium. The hostess was young and not very professional but that happens with young people. Our server was awesome. She was very knowledgeable and had lots of great advice. The shepherds pie was utterly amazing. I'm looking forward to visiting again.
