The Munro House

Reviewed December 31, 2011

My sister and I planned a family get-together at the Munro House; the six of us stayed in the three rooms at the front of the mansion. We all loved our stay! The home was lavishly decorated for Christmas. We were especially dazzled by the huge Christmas tree with its clusters of gold ornaments and lights strung over the exterior and interior. It is a work of art!

The hosts were exceptionally helpful and fun, and we all felt so at home and well cared for. Ozzie the scottie dog was also most attentive and kept us company for an evening movie and each morning at breakfasts. Mike & Lori do a fabulous job with the breakfast each morning and truly made us feel welcome.

Our rooms were beautifully decorated and very functional, each with a secretary desk, comfortable seating, excellent Wi-Fi, and two had blazing gas fireplaces.

We highly recommend Munro House and will be back!

Chistmas is a fun time to come to Jonesville. Our "Soap Opera Tree" is the centerpiece of our extreme decorating. Girlfriends who getaway to our house have space to enjoy each others' company. These ladies did, and we were happy to be able to facilitate their get-together. Thank you for choosing the Munro House.

We had a wonderful time during our murder mystery weekend. We enjoyed the tour of the house and history. We had a diet friendly breakfast with plenty of fresh fruit. We enjoyed meeting all the people that took part in the murder mystery with us. We had a wonderful dinner with plenty to eat and nice desert. They had plenty of snacks and drinks all day for us to enjoy as we traveled around during our weekend. The room we stayed in had plenty of room and a wonderful gas fire place. Mike and Lori thank you for such a wonderful time.

Healthy options are always an available choice along with complimentary snacks and beverages. We try to host Murder Mystery Dinners on a quarterly basis and try to choose fun games for our guests to play and enjoy. Positive reviews tell us that we take our job seriously. Thank you for your kind words.

The Munro House is a beautiful home and we were lucky enough to be there to see it decorated for the holidays. The 20 foot Christmas tree decorated in gold ornaments is enough to take your breath away. The breakfast were superb - and make to order based on the selections of the day. I had the most wonderful "Almond Joy" french toast and bacon and cheese omelette - if you go away hungry it's definitely your own fault. Mike and Lori are great hosts and spend lots of time chatting a breakfast - just a wonderful atmosphere.

We did have a bit of a problem with our room but spoke with Mike and he assured us all will be taken care of - and we were very pleased with the way it was handled. We plan to go back in the future - gotta have some more of the Vanilla Malt waffles! :-)

Thank you for enjoying our hospitality. Our house is pretty spectacular at Christmas time, but our tree is "only" 12 feet tall. We think that the best part about bed and breakfast is the breakfast--and it has nothing to do with the food! We try to facilitate conversation between all of our guests and try to serve a breakfast that is atypical of what you may have at home. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.

Mike and Lori should be commended on their recognition of Veterans. They provide a room for a night and a delicious breakfast in the morning. These hosts bring a sense of pride to the vet and spouse by showing their appreciation for the sacrifices that have been made. The Munro House is one of the most beautiful B&B's my wife and I have ever stayed in. The atmosphere that is present is that they are proud of their heritage and give back 110% to the veteran by providing this service. Mike and Lori are true Americans and I am thankful to call them friend with much respect.

It was our pleasure to host you during the "B&Bs for Vets" promotion. Veterans do not always receive enough thanks for their service, so we are proud to acknowledge their sacrifices and thank them in our own way.

We were one of the lucky ones who got to stay at the Munro House when Mike opened his home to Veterans this year. Neither one of us had ever stayed in a B & B before so we didn't really know what to expect. However, as soon as we walked in, Mike came to greet us and we knew when he said “ Welcome to me Home” that he truly meant it.
After a tour with history of the house and he took us to our room. A gas fire in the fireplace was "blazing" when we entered it. The room was nice size, very clean, and the bed was comfortable. TV, cable, WiFi are some of the amenities.
Mike and Lori proved to be excellent hosts. They made us feel truly welcome in the house. The refrig was stocked with water and pop and they had healthy (and not so healthy) food for us to snack on. They provided us with good recommendations on where to go to eat that night, cooked us excellent breakfast (made to order) the next morning, and seemed to be genuinely interested in us.
To sum things up, we were very impressed by the Munro House, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
PS Loved Ozzie (the resident Scottie dog!)

Thank you for enjoying our hospitality. It was our pleasure to host you for the "B&Bs for Vets" program. We love our property, our village, and our business partners and are glad that you enjoyed them, too. Jonesville is the kind of town every village should be--quiet, progressive, and friendly. We are glad you enjoyed your time here. Ozzie enjoyed your company, too.

Mike and Lori and their furry co-host Ozzy were excellent hosts! Very informative about the history of the home. The tour by Mike and the stories he told about the namesake were very entertaining and exciting. These two are fun, warm and very welcoming. Like they were welcoming in long time friends or family! We were there for the B & B for Veterans and were graciously treated to a one nights stay and breakfast in the morning. Were received a lovely furnished room with jacuzzi tub and gas fireplace. The room was very clean and spacious. We were in Clara's room which was secluded and very quiet. The veterans gathered together in a meet and greet and we met very nice people that had served our great country. The men chatted about their time in the military and we heard great stories! The following morning we were given a lavish breakfast of wonderfully fluffy and tender home made waffles, fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice, toast, eggs, home made jam, and bacon. We ordered what we wanted and if we were hungry after (which we were NOT!) we could order more. We listened to more stories and the comradery continued. We later walked to a local park for a Veteran's Day observance and once again gathered together to honor our past and present veterans. It was a wonderful stay! We were so honored to be able to participate in this wonderful event and the Munro House was a great place to be able to do so.

Our local American Legion puts on a wonderful program for military holidays. Our participation in the B&Bs for Vets program allowed some out-of-towners to enjoy this gathering of over 700 people in our village of 2,400. We try to treat everyone who walks through our door as 'family' and we enjoy telling the history of this great old house and the interesting people who have lived here. "Luck of the draw" got you one of our deluxe rooms, but everyone got the best breakfast I know how to make. It was our pleasure to host you and the other veterans as a 'thank you' for your service.
