“What more motels should be like.”

Clean, comfortable, well maintained and just about the friendliest welcome you could get! What more do you need? And add in a laundrette and a great restaurant right next door that serves very good food at more than reasonable prices and you have all you need on the doorstep.

We had a room with two lovely and comfortable queen beds and a spotless bathroom with clean towels. A continental breakfast was included and as this is all we eat anyway it set up up for the day!

Would deffo stay again and recommend!

It is so important for you Americans to support "Mom and Pop" motels or an essential and real part of Americana will disappear. Far too many already gone. Stay in them and ignore the chains who will survive no matter what. Imagine America without Mom and Pop's motels and restaurants? Terrible thought.

I have noticed over the past 6 years riding all 49 mainland States that these, motels and smaller hotels, have been taken over by people who have no idea how to run a motel. They have no interest in running a professional hospitality business with no investment, no upgrading, no maintenance and all too often dirty filthy rooms with cheap tacky carpets and beds. No. This is not acceptable and I am surprised local councils do not do something about this tragedy. I have to wonder if running the hotel is the real reason why it was bought or is there an ulterior motive??

We have been staying at the "Classic" (aka the Sandpiper) for years when we come up to stay in the area to ski. Owners Bob and Annette are always friendly, and they can provide advice about anything you need to know about the area. Rooms are "classic," homey, clean, and non-smoking (a must for me). A real UP place to stay, rather than a chain!

Clean and friendly. The owner went out of her way to help with my Internet connection. Also provided cleaning rags for the bikes.

Would definitely stay again!

This great motel somehow eluded my family and I for the past 20 yrs of ski vacations - we had always stayed down the road at a "chain". Cannot say enough about what you get with an owner operated motel: great service including a free and fresh continental breakfast, clean rooms, friendly atmosphere, and all for a low price. We had four rooms all next to each other and thought that with a full motel it might get a bit noisy, but everything was quiet. The hot tub and sauna were great after a long day on the slopes, and being right next door to Don and GG's bar and restaurant made it easy to grab dinner and drinks.

All in all I would highly recommend the Classic Motor Inn and I know I will be staying there on future vacations to Michigan.

Stayed 3 nights recently for a quick snowmobile trip to Ironwood.

The rooms were very clean. Great breakfast to start the day and the owners did a great job at not only being friendly but providing helpful information. The Motel was full and we really didn't hear any noise and it isn't just snowmobilers, lot of skiers and other just passing through.

They do have a hot tub and sauna that worked out well after a day on the trails and there are restaurants, gas and C-stores very close by. If you are there for snowmobiling the Motel is across the street from Trail 2 which was very convenient.

The rooms are outdated but they were perfect for our needs and you can't beat the price. I would stay here again in a second!

We hit Ironwood on a cold rainy evening in off season. I think we were the only visitors to this motor inn that night. The owner was very hospitable. The room was clean, warm, and homey. We had been camping and loved having an excellent laundromat across the street as well as great water pressure for hot showers. We weren't old about the sauna which would have been nice. Maybe it wasn't open. Reasonable rates for an old time motor inn. Allowed our dog as long as he stayed off the furniture which was no problem.

My wife and I visited Ironwood this past July for a family reunion. One of our uncles had recommended The Classic Motor Inn, and informed us that several of the family members would be staying there.
Reservations went very smoothly, and our room was ready when we arrived. This family run motel is clean, roomy, and close to everything. They have a nice common room at the office, with fresh donuts and coffee and cereal every morning. They also have a jacuzzi, which I unfortunately did not have time to visit.
Our group had five or six rooms, and they were nice enough to locate us all close to each other, on ground level. We really enjoyed our three nights at the Classic.
