We were looking for a place to stay for three nights as we were going to visit a friend of mine who lives close by. She gave me numbers of three different motels in the area and so we booked Lakeshore Motel. I am so glad we did. The room we had, had two queen beds in it, table with two chairs, flat screen tv with cable, microwave, refrigerator, lazy boy chair and another chair and wifi. The room was spotless. Looking out the window you could see the lake and it was gorgeous. Nice size bathroom and was very clean. They offered continental breakfast and had a very good selection of items. We visited with Claudia and she was very friendly and a great hostess. The tv in our room was acting up and her husband came right up to check it out and changed out the tv. Next time we come up to that area we will definitely stay there again.

We were looking for someplace to stay for one night in the Iron River area. I turned to TripAdvisor to help me to choose. There were so many good revues about the Lakeshore Motel and it held up to those reviews. The room was charming, with a rustic decor, and it was spotless. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, plenty of good lighting, an extra mirror in the sleeping area, a nice chair and stool, and a flat screen TV. We had a pleasant lake view, there were magazines to borrow, and a continental breakfast. The bathroom was roomy, and was stocked with nice, white towels and good quality toiletries. We used the dock to fish, and caught (and released!) a lot of bluegills and other small fish. The room was so comfortable, and the setting so pleasant, we were sorry we weren't able to stay longer. Another bonus, was the location. It was just a couple of blocks off Highway 2. Convenient for traveling, but far enough away to make us feel like we were not anywhere near the highway!

Our group stayed in several rooms. Our's was a small kitchenette that was very dated, probably last updated before I was born! But the view from our room of Ice Lake was beautiful. It was so close to the Lake that sitting from the bed it almost looked as though we were in a boat. Although the room was very "vintage" it was extremely clean.

Pros:
Fluffy towels
Hot water
Powerful shower
Great view of Ice Lake
Extremely clean
A DVD player built into the TV
Wi-Fi
Kitchen had plenty of utensils, pots/pans, dishes, appliances
Boat rental
A dock
Great outdoor space
The price, very affordable

Cons:
Very dated
The bugs collected on the door because of the light outside and every time the door was opened they flew in and by the end of the day they were swarming the room near light sources. We had to leave the bathroom light on to collect them in there to get them out of the main room.
the kitchen was small and the knobs on the stove were loose and twice the gas was accidentally left on while we were gone because someone accidentally knocked into one.
Room was cramped
No bathtub, only a shower
Hot water ran out quickly, but also replenished quickly

Now this review is only for the small kitchenette. One of the regular 2 queen rooms that some of our party occupied was much more updated and spacious. It had a mini fridge, microwave, and bathtub. They also didn't seem to have the same bug problem that we did.

I think your experience will depend on your expectations and what you mind or don't mind. The small kitchenette felt more like camping with an indoors. I would stay here again but not in the small kitchenette. I'd stay in a regular room.

Extremely clean and welcoming. With big fluffy towels and a kitchen stocked with every appliance we could need our room felt like a perfect little house! The owner even let us have a late check out so we could use their wifi for work while enjoying a beautiful view of Ice Lake in the comfort of our room. More than just another room with a view, this customer service will have us coming back the next time we are in the area for work or pleasure.

At Lakeshore
*Totally quiet during the night = great sleep
*Bedding, Bathroom, Refrigerator - all clean as a whistle
*Breakfast - nice and simple but good options such as muffins, whole grain cereals, juice
*Lake availability - was able to snowshoe on the lake - great workout
*Ski slope - Easy to get to Brule and saved a lot of money staying at Lakeshore so I could afford the lift tickets!
P.S. I do not rate high unless it is above my expectations. Lakeshore did not disappoint me.

We stayed at the Lakeshore Motel last weekend while snowboarding at Ski Brule. The decor may be dated, but some may see the retro charm. The motel is pristine and the rooms are spacious. The couple who own the motel were very friendly. There's a beautiful view of the lake and the location is convenient to Iron River and Ski Brule. The room was very affordable and included a microwave and small refrigerator. We had a nice continental breakfast with one of the owners providing light-hearted morning conversation. I will definitely be staying at the Lakeshore again when I'm in the Iron River area.
