With some last minute planning for the 4th of July week my fiance and I were searching for a state park to camp at for our first trip to Michigan. Interlochen was the only park we could find with a site left Ionly 1 was left so we were lucky). Afternan 11 hour drive we arrived at our site, it was directly on the lake and one of the only ones that was secluded with trees from other people (371). The site was beautiful, neighbors extremely friendly with great advice, all of the staff at the park were super nice (minus the grumpy man who was consistently rude working in the camp store). One suggestion-don't swim in the lake, swimmers itch is present and luckily we were warned about it prior to our trip. We weren't going to chance being miserable with the itch our whole trip, but the loaction was so great we were really close to lake michigan beaches(most beautiful is empire beach) that we made daily trips to different ones. We will definitely be back!
