There isn't much left in Interlochen as far as eateries go. Hofbrau is still as great as ever, but places for breakfast, a light meal or a treat are sorely lacking. Enter - Bud's. And they seem to do quite well.
You order at a counter, and if you're ordering a sandwich or salad, you pay, pour your own drink at the fountain and have a seat - they will bring your food to the table when it's ready. The food is good. Nothing special, but good enough. Their choices add a bit of flair, so the menu isn't completely boring, just not expansive. And though it isn't expensive, it's not particularly inexpensive for what you get either. Your sandwich basket won't have much extra in it.
I had breakfast there for the first time last weekend (Dilbert's was packed to the max) and it was hit and miss. My breakfast 'panini' ( your basic breakfast sandwich) was okay. But, so is the breakfast sandwich at Subway up the road. The kids, however, got pancakes that were lovely and french bread that was truly wonderful. Bud's was full inside that morning, so we had to sit outside, where it was cold and raining, but we were under cover and stayed relatively dry. Unfortunately, it took absolutely forever to get our food and when it did finally arrive, the gal who brought it to our table literally flung the plastic baskets at us. That was not very pleasant.
Bud's would not be my first choice, but it sure beats driving to Traverse.
