We have been there many times and each time the food and service was wonderful. Not a large menu but everything on it is great and reasonable. All the waiters and waitress go out of there way to make sure you are taken care of. For a little privacy they have a small room in the front which seats 8 people great for a small group (reservations required). Would highly recommend to anyone.

We went with our family of five, the walleye was incredible and so was the clam chowder, and 6 ounce steak.
The service was outstanding.
I would recommend this place to anyone who likes great food.
We will be going back.

This restaurant was a surprise and a find in such a tiny Michigan town! They offer everything from soup, salad, sandwiches to the Michigan specialty-Walleye! My dish was the pan seared Walleye with lemon garlic and chardonnay sauce-for $16.50 I thought it was a bargain. All of us had different entrees of freshwater fish and loved them all. The drinks were generous and the place was crowded so it was a lively evening.

After having visited this part of Michigan for 30+ years, this was a find! Amazing cuisine in rural Michigan. Our large party ordered a bit of everything and it was all delicious, from the sautéed walleye to the tenderloin tips to the ahi to the steaks. Other hits were the bang bang shrimp and portabello mushroom starters. The only dish that was good but not great was the walleye on a plank. Poached and served on a piece of wood, it was a bit underseasoned and a bit tough to eat on the narrow plank. While the menu is a bit pricey for the area and the atmosphere screams BAR while it could be white linen, it was definitely worth it, which was attested to by the line of people waiting out the door as we left.

If this restaurant was 30 miles South it would be one of the best in the Grand Rapids area. I think it probably is under appreciated in Howard City just looking at some of the reviews. We went for the first time late on Father's Day. We weren't sure if they'd even be open but to our surprise the small bar and adjoining restaurant was half full. Mussels and Cajun seafood chowder were two items on the appetizers menu. Both were delicious. The mussels were particularly good with a lot of lemon and garlic juice to soak up the garlic toast. The chowder was also good with big chunks of potatoes and shrimp in a thick Cajun sauce. We both had walleye. She had the traditional pan fried and I had the walleye baked on a cedar plank with Duchess Potatoes and vegetables. And yes it came on a 3 inch by 12 inch plank. I thought my fish was perfect but some might not like it done so lightly. She had an issue with too many bones. However the taste was fantastic. We will definitely go back. I for the fish but the menu is very extensive from fish to steaks to sandwiches and burgers. It's worth the trip from GR but I'm sure many to the south don't know about this little gem.
