“Nice hotel for family”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

Our family stayed at the Hampton Inn on a recent trip to Holland. The young man, who checked us in was friendly and helpful and gave us several recommendations for local restaurants that didn't disappoint. Also, the staff was very friendly and greeted us every morning. Upon entering the room, we noticed that is was really clean and seemed to be nice and updated. The beds, pillows and bedding were all comfortable.

In the evening, the kids wanted to go down to the pool. The pool is decent sized and they liked swimming in it. My husband and I sat in the indoor hot tub for awhile also. There is also an outdoor hot tub. The kids also enjoyed the fact that there was air hockey, pool, ping pong and an arcade with games. Just be aware, that there are fees on these games if your kids want to play anything.

Breakfast in the morning was fine. There are plenty of tables to sit at if you include the bar area where breakfast is served, the pool area and also outdoors, by a small pond with a fountain. Breakfast included, cereal, milk, coffee, hot water for cocoa and tea, juice, bagels and bread, danishes, muffins, make your own belgian waffles, oatmeal, fruit, hard boiled eggs and two hot entrees, which varied each morning we were there.

The location is off US 31 and is not far from downtown Holland. There is a mall and many shops and restaurants nearby.

I used the exercise room and it was fine for a motel. Nothing fancy though. There are 2 treadmills, an elliptical and a recumbent bike, along with free weights and medicine balls. There are also 2 TV's. towels and wipes to clean the machines off when finished.

Overall, we had a nice stay and would come here again!

It's a beautiful hotel with nice, clean, modern rooms. Comfortable bed and duvet sets (speaking from a pregnant woman w back pain!). It has a nice indoor pool/game area wing ping pong table, air hockey, arcade games.. The pool seemed to be mostly empty during the day (everyone was probably at the beach) and got a little crowded at night. However, kids were only allowed in the pool until 10:30pm, so from 10:30pm to midnight, it was quiet and mostly empty again.

It was approximately a 15-min drive to the 2 nearby beaches in Holland.

Breakfast was good, but serving mostly unhealthy food such as waffles, muffins, sweet pastries/french toasts, though there were a few healthier options such as oatmeal, yogurt and hard boiled eggs.

We will definitely return again.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a romantic weekend getaway and were extremely impressed. The hotel itself is located a short drive away from the downtown Holland area, and is next to countless stores, restaurants and a couple of other hotels.

The lobby is beautiful and welcoming and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We did have to change rooms upon our arrival, due to the first room having a smoky smell to it (the hotel is all non-smoking), something that we didn't fault the hotel for at all...and we were promptly given a new room within a couple of minutes.

We got a lovely King/Jacuzzi room on the third floor (the hotel has 4 floors total) that also had a large glass shower, nice LCD LG TV, desk, easy chair/ottoman and a small bar area with a small fridge. The room itself was extremely clean and fresh.

The highlight of the room though was the bed....something we both couldn't stop raving about the whole weekend! The hotel uses a Serta mattress and boxspring that's specially made for Hampton Inn and it was the perfect blend of comfort for the two of us (I have back problems). We liked it so much, that we're actually debating on buying it! (we went on their website and found it).

Breakfast was very good, albeit extremely busy since it was the weekend....it includes omelets, potatoes, a waffle station, cereals, yogurt, juices, etc.

Even though the hotel was very busy (including lots of families), we didn't hear a lot of noise and it was very restful, which we definitely appreciated.

The hotel also has a nice swimming pool, video games and a hot tub located outside on the deck next to the pool area.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again!

I was pleasantly surprised by this Hampton Inn - the room almost had the same amenities as a Hilton Garden Inn. The Staff were very friendly, service was excellent and rooms / bathrooms / beds were clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel in a busy retail district is fantastic with atleast 15 restaurants within a couple of miles radius. The hotel is set back a block from US 31, so there is also not too much highway noise. I was also very impressed by the HD channel selection on the flat screen TV in the room. Breakfast was also a good spread, and refilled continuously. Good selection of teas, 2 waffle irons and lots of TVs to catch up on the news. In the evening, the restaurant becomes the bar, with a wide selection of well drinks and beers. Plenty of parking is also available. All in all, a great experience!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from elevators on higher floors - with the pool and bar area on the first floor...

Our family of 3 spent three nights here while exploring the area from Saugatuck up to Grand Haven (and of course, Holland). It made a great mid-point base with everything we wanted to do and see being within a half hour or so of the hotel. Let me say we've stayed in COUNTLESS Hampton Inns across the country and this was one of the nicest in terms of extra amenities. The normal breakfast area was instead a full service bar and ample seating area with a limited restaurant menu. The place was bustling with activity each evening. Nice that mom and dad can grab a drink and a bite while watching the kids swim... Something easily done because that area flowed right into a large pool area surrounded by a spacious gaming area (air hockey, ping pong, video arcade, etc.). And beyond that was an exit to a lovely large outside patio with a whirlpool overlooking a pond with fountain where we typically found solitude for enjoying both breakfast and evening cocktails. The help was courteous and friendly, especially Leigh at the front desk who answered a lot of our questions and took care of special requests with a smile. The rooms were clean and updated including those all-important easily-accessible electrical outlets for the tech gadgets and chargers -- We hate the rooms where you have to crawl under the bed or unplug lamps just to charge a cell phone or laptop and this place addressed that issue nicely. The hotel is nestled amongst Holland's most concentrated retail and restaurant area so anything you might need is nearby The only possible complaint was that the two "Queen" size beds in our room seemed a lot more like "doubles" -- this might have been our imagination, but our queen bed at home seems a good bit wider than what we had here. Although we stayed on a HHonors Reward this time, the standard rates here do appear a bit higher than most Hamptons in this part of the country but keep in kind the extra amenities may make it well worth the price.

We heard a lot of noise from the people next door and the ice machine in the hallway. Breakfast is served in the sports bar where it was way to packed on Sunday morning. They ran out of most of items, so breakfast consisted of a muffin and milk. Monday breakfast wasn't as packed, but they still ran out of most items.
