“Creative Food, Inventive Cocktails and Pleasant Surroundings”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

The white tablecloths are the first hint that you are in for a sophisticated meal, not run of the mill fare. Make sure to peruse the cocktail menu and if you feel adventurous, order the Jalapeno Pineapple Rum drink that will shake up your taste buds and put your mouth on full alert. It is the most creative and bold cocktail I have ever had the good fortune to taste.

You can't go wrong with the menu which is made up of small and large plates, tapas style appetizers and great entrees. We started with the warm asparagus which was the ultimate in comfort food. It was indeed warm and so smooth and creamy you did not want it to end. The garden salad and tomato basil soup were also winners.

I had the Scottish Salmon which was perfectly prepared, not too well done so that it was tender and just a bit pink - exactly the way it should be. It was served on a delicious bed of potatoes that were themselves something a bit special. My friend had Shrimp and Grits and she was in heaven.

The wine list was inclusive and dessert was reliable. The service was outstanding and the owner comes by the tables to make sure everyone is happy. What more could you want from a restaurant?

Dear Rosenmn,

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to write such a thoughtful review.
As you pointed out, we certainly try to provide the best dining experience in West Michigan through inventive cocktails, great atmosphere, a delicious, locally-driven menu, and a fantastic wine selection. Of course, we can't always provide the perfect experience we strive to achieve, it's comments like yours that help us know we're on the right path.

Thank you, once again, for your kind words -- we look forward to serving you again.

Warm regards,

Butch's is an excellent restaurant in the heart of downtown Holland, MI. The menu is great, the food delicious, the wine list very good and the service excellent! Try to get a window seat and enjoy the vibrant city with a glass of your favorite wine!

Really nice restaurant, great food, great location on the Main Street. Would definitely recommend and eat there again. Go down to the toilets and see the art work on the walks!

“STILL HUNGRY”
Reviewed August 2, 2014 via mobile

We, as vegetarians, were disappointed that there was only one selection on the menu to our liking. We ordered the caponeta entree. When it came, there was only about 1 1/2 cups of finely diced eggplant mixture in the dish. There was no salad with the entree and bread was EXTRA! Our male friend ordered the crab salad and, he too, was hungry after his small serving. It would be nice if a few veggie wraps or a portobella mushroom burger were on the menu as they are at other popular restaurants in Holland, where we will go the next time for more food at the same price.

“Real Napkins and Real Good Food”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

During a quick visit to Holland we were lucky to find Butch's at lunch time. The hostess and servers were friendly and warm. The tables had real cloth table cloths and napkins. The view out to the street was beautiful through the ceiling to floor windows.

Our lunches were delicious: a homemade sausage dish and a Rueben sandwich. Neither was extraordinary but just plain good...and filling. Many other items on the menu looked delicious and my wife was thrilled because several of them were gluten free.

If you're in Holland, definitely plan on eating at Butch's.

Dear Trailman,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent experience at my restaurant. I am happy to hear that you were able to enjoy our staple Rueben Sandwich and one of our newer dishes, the Homemade Sausage with Broccolini and Sauce Romesco.

Please stop in again the next time you make it to West Michigan -- we look forward to serving you and your wife again.
