“You Have to Stay More Than One Day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2012

We are in our 20's and wanted to do the B&B thing but didn't want some over the top cheesy place, we searched online and found a few options but Pigeon Creek Inn stood out. First thing we loved was the Inn was a newly constructed structure with all new modern conveniences and not a remodeled older home. Second there are only 3 rooms, so we could relax and not have to worry about other guests or to many guests. Third between 2 towns with lots of cultural and things to do.
We read the reviews online I agree with some but not all.The stay is worth the price and a 2 night stay has a discount (you have to check we didn't find out until we inquired), the house and views are beautiful, the jacuzzi tube with the rainfall shower above and lights is awesome (The Garden Suite)
PS Jack is An AWESOME CHEF! Our Friday Morning Breakfast...I would pay just to eat breakfast when Jack cooks! He blends fruits and other ingredients fresh in the morning, he even puts on a small cooking show while cooking breakfast. Great place to Relax, Great Food, Great People make a Great Time!

Room Tip: The Garden Suite for something different

The review by shoque was spot on. The place was beautiful and contemporary, but the inn keeper is single, has another job and is kinda spacy and uninviting. My husband and I stayed there for our honeymoon and it was our first bed and breakfast and I had the exact same experience of being told we may not have breakfast one of the days and this was due to us being the only couples for that day. I politely argued him on it and he agreed to make us some eggs and toast. I mean it's a bed and breakfast for crying out loud! Anywho, the rooms are nice and big with a full side-by-side two person jacuzzi, two person shower. But there are no personal touches like the option of breakfast in the bedroom, coffee ready when you get up, saying hello, telling you about the location, etc. It was super weird having to eat at the same table as the other two couples staying there. We always had to wait for the other couples to wake up and come downstairs before we ate and could actually get going with our day. There is no mini fridge in the bedroom and no place to store your food. Plus there are windows in the room with no blinds or shades:( Really this place is like a beautiful lodge where you have to go out to eat all the time and can't use the kitchen.

My girlfriend booked this as a surprise for us at the last minute.
I was realy please to see what a beautiful room she had reserved.
It was quite large witha very cool shower glass block shower plus a big whirlpool tub
overlooking the inn's wooded property.
The host (jack) was very gratious and knew a lot about wine and food.
He recommended a couple of superb restaurants like the everyday people cafe in Douglas which really made our evening.
From the great breakfast to the awesome amenities our stay was a memory we will always cherish.

Last weekend, my boyfriend and I stayed at Pigeon Creek Inn and loved it. Everything was just as advertised online and better. The room was beautiful and very clean and breakfast in the morning was incredible. Jack, the innkeeper, was so helpful and nice. He told us all about the places we should go in the surrounding towns and provided us with maps and wonderful suggestions of things to do. The area is so beautiful and it was so wonderful to come back after a day of sightseeing to such a 5 star experience. We would love to make this a yearly visit (and hopefully will) and I would definitely recommend this place for an couple looking a romantic weekend. What a great experience! Thank you Jack!

This was our first B&B experience and I can't imagine wanting anything else. We don't stay at B&B's because we dont' like the country style, and frankly, the old amenities of the one's we've seen. This is a beautiful modern facility that looks exactly like the website videos.

We arrived following the instructions we got from the inn keeper and let ourselves in. Looked around and then were greeted when he was done with a phone call he was on when we arrived. He showed us around and was thorough and thoughtful.

The location is totally isolated, yet short drives to activities, or a short bike ride to a park right on the lake. (beautiful view at Kirk park - 1.5 mile away)

Breakfast was french toast with caramelized peaches and a side of sausage.

Plusses - location, setting, amenities, decor, food and romance

Minus - no cable TV - just antenna stations and no internet - but those were also plusses.

If you are looking for a B&B with a modern feel in MI, this is the place to stay. Large rooms, each with a private balcony and surrounded by 35 acres of privacy. The beds are large and king-sized. The innkeeper is a great chef and we had some of the best pancakes imaginable with fresh blue-berries he had just picked the day before. It's 15 minutes to Grand Haven and 20 minutes to Holland which means its nice and secluded. The inn sits well back from the highway so that it's incredibly quiet at night.
The innkeeper shared great tips about local things to do and see, which was great because we had planned this trip last minute. Plenty of lake michigan beaches within 10-20 miles. We went to a different beach every day.

Pigeon Creek Inn was a delight. I'll make this quick and to the point...

PROS:
- House/rooms are all modern and high end. When building the house, Jack decided he would rather have a few very nice rooms, than many small, mediocre rooms. Huge shower, hot tub, balcony, fireplace, king bed and flat screen TV in every room
- Jack is a pleasure. To some, he might come off as too casual, but we liked his demeanor. He is a wonderful cook and helped us with making plans and picking restaurants for dinner. He even went out of his way and made an early breakfast for us one morning since we had to rush out of the house.
- Decent sized DVD library, I think we watched "The Shawshank Redemption" (can't believe my wife never watched it before then!)
- Huge kitchen, and Jack let us use the fridge through the weekend. We also had access to wine glasses, plates, etc.
- Although it was pretty chilly while we were there and we never used it, there is a nice, big, covered, screened in dining room off the kitchen.
- Plenty of parking in driveway and keycode entry into building. Very secure and easy, keycode changes pretty much every week(after guests leave).

CONS:
- The only con I can think of is its somewhat awkward location. In between Grand Haven and Saugatuk, it was 30 miles to the Winery and Apple Farm in Fennville (which were both fabulous), and 13 miles to downtown Grand Haven.
