“Excellent Food & Service!”
Reviewed May 23, 2014 via mobile

Alpenrose has some great food and the people are top notch! It is a bit "old country" when it comes to the decor but that is part of it's Old World charm. We met friends for a birthday dinner and got a great private booth, which we had requested with our reservation. The food is so fresh and flavorful with a great selection, the only thing I can say is keep up the excellent work!

“Lunch Buffet”
Reviewed May 15, 2014

We just stumbled upon this spot for lunch and saw they had a buffet for $12.95 per person. Good assortment of cold salads, there was a fish dish and a chicken dish, a couple side dishes like mashed carrot/potatoes (that was really tasty), and broccoli with cheese sauce. There was a dessert table and also warm bread pudding with a good sauce. This filled us up through dinner. Good service also. The buffet ran until 2pm.

“Holland, MI Tulips”
Reviewed May 15, 2014

Reading about a restaurant doesn't always turn out the way we hope - but Alpen Rose - was absolutely the perfect way to start our first visit to Holland, Michigan. This absolutely beautiful restaurant is in the center of Holland on 8th. The food was outstanding. If you like mushrooms, have a cup or bowl of the wild mushroom soup. The bratwurst patty on a pretzel bun was very good, too.

“Great Food”
Reviewed May 14, 2014

This is a bit of an upscale restaurant with a cafe. My sister and I had dinner here one evening during the Tulip Festival. The Wiener Schnitzel with red cabbage and spetzle (might not be spelled correctly) was wonderful. The service was outstanding. We went just before 5 pm and were seated, but reservations for later would be a good idea. Potions were ample. Loved this place,

“Very Good Lunch Buffet”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

We ate their lunch buffet for $12.95/ea. the day before Mothers' Day and found it to be very good for the price. The restaurant has several "rooms" inside where the guests were seated. The interior had an assortment of antlers and skiis hanging near high on the walls near the ceiling. One light fixture was made of a multi-antlered unit and had shades.

We started out with a French Onion Soup and had salad and fruit. There was several kinds of fruit, rolls, crackers, sliced cucumbers to go with the lettuce salad.

Then for the main entree, they had chicken in a gravy sauce, mashed potatoes intermixed with mashed carrots, and broccoli in a cheese sauce; they also had sauerkraut and sausage. We had some of each. It was all very tasty.

For desert we selected several items from their desert bar (which included at least eight items) various cups of pudding and" broken" pieces of cake, chocolate covered creme puffs.

Our waitress kept refilling our water glasses and taking our dishes away as we finished each course. The water tasted good and did not have a chlorine taste like some other restaurants.

It was definitely a quick easy way to have a good lunch in Holland during the annual Tulip Festival. The restaurant is on the main street (8th St.) in the downtown business District.
