“Frogs and hawks and elk tra la”
Reviewed February 2, 2012

In addition to the ponds and grasslands, there are numerous animal exhibits including elk, birds of prey, amphibians, reptiles, and small mammals. There is also an outdoor Native American exhibit with a garden in the summer months. While we visited in the spring this time, the center is open year round givng the opportunity to see how seasonal changes affect animals and the environment.

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed October 7, 2011

This is a great little park with well marked trails. They do a great job educating kids about the plants and animals around them. Nice picnic area. They have elk and deer in a pen near the entrance. Watch out for the bull elk. He is a feisty one, charging the fence if you got near. We walked to the birds of prey exhibit. That was what I really wanted to see. Most of these birds have been hit by cars and are unable to feed themselves in the wild. I wish we had gone on one of the interpreter tours, but time constraints did not allow. It was still a very nice walk with information plackets around the park. Donations are accepted and they should be given. We need more of this kind of outdoor education.

“Excellent nature and wildlife center.”
Reviewed August 4, 2011

Spent 3 hours on a lovely sunny afternoon. The facility is extremely well maintained, the trails had lots of variety, and the birds of prey exhibit was great. Very nice taxidermy collection in the main building.

“Good learning for the kids - nice down time for me!”
Reviewed November 10, 2010

I love that we can walk the trails for free, see and talk about the animals, the plants, and the weather, and take a time away from the hustle and bustle. There's enough to make a day out of it an pack a picnic!

“Definitely worth seeing”
Reviewed August 5, 2010

Free entry, and really nice grounds for a brief hike. The birds of prey are pretty interesting -- and they are all birds that were injured, and cannot survive on their own. This is a great spot for birdwatching as well, we even saw some turkey vultures on our hike.
