Owner description: Windmill Island Gardens is home to de Zwaan windmill, the last mill allowed to be transported from the Netherlands. de Zwaan still functions by grinding locally-grown grain into flour that is sold to visitors and local businesses. A highlight of visiting is a tour of this historic working windmill. Visitors can enjoy music from our antique Dutch street organ given to the City of Holland by the City of Amsterdam after World War II. Children can also ride on our antique carousel from the Netherlands. There are several other replica Dutch buildings and shops. The Island is home to beautiful gardens which feature tulips in the spring followed by beautiful annuals and perennials throughout the summer. Please note that the Island is open seasonally, April 15 - October 1, 2017. Last tickets sold at 5 pm.
Useful Information: Bathroom facilities, Food available for purchase

Enjoyed learning about the windmill tour and how and when it was brought over. The gardens are beautiful you can see how much time was put into them. Nice little snack shop, carousel and gift shop too.

They do a wonderful job of showing the early Holland / Dutch Culture! Costumed staff as well as the large working windmill and water channels make you feel like you are really there!

The young women who demonstrated the Dutch dance were very friendly. The tour guide who gave the windmill tour was very knowledgable and the gardens were beautiful. The young man and the ladies in the gift shop were quite hospitable.
The gardens were quite beautiful. My husband and I had a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon visit.

Visited on Labor Day weekend. It is nice little dutch garden that gives you cheap feeling of visiting Holland or Netherland. The windmill that turns grains into flours is nice alongwith the Dutch dance. The little shops for wooden shoes are nice.

We visited at the end of the summer and it felt like we walked around an aging city park. Nice place but not a garden. City of Holland really needs to drop the price significantly at this time of year. It's probably nice in spring but save the money and go to a free open space.

Thank John L
