“Horrifying food, rude service.. to be avoided!!”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

How to start...
1) A restaurant can be "unique" or "one of a kind" because everyone else thought the food was gross and so it was not ever tried again elsewhere..
2) Surly, uninterested service is not the way to go for a restaurant
3) Charging 75 cents for red pepper flakes to go on a pizza (when offering it without mentioning the cost) is just cheap.
Calling this pizza "thin crust" is a disservice to crusts everywhere. I would call this a cracker that has become soggy from the quarter inch thick layer of grease that drips off of the pizza. They are fortunate that they are in a relative culinary desert with the only comparison being pizza hut. There any one of a thousand local pizza joints anywhere in Michigan who crust, toppings, service and flavor blow this place out of the water. Save yourself the unpleasantness...

“I don't get it”
Reviewed April 10, 2012

The pizza is absolutely horrible. Super thin, slightly burnt, and ooozing grease. I would rather eat a Totino's pizza.

“Best pizza in town”
Reviewed March 7, 2012

Pizza worth the long wait.
Very plain and simple resturant. Not many choice of pizza toppings but still the best tasting pizza in town. I enjoy the thin crust. Be sure to order a pizza for yourself because the leftovers the next day still taste amazing.
Full bar service.
Long wait

“One of a kind pizza. You love it or you don't.”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

Thin crust, one size, limited toppings, but extremely flavorful and distinctive. I crave it once every few months. Come early on weekends; the takeout seems to have priority in the kitchen.

“The original Italian Flapjack!”
Reviewed December 27, 2011

I am blown away by the short sighted reviews giving this place one star. First off, get over yourself. If you like things the way you like them, then don't try new things. The complaints I read in other reviews seem to point out the strengths of Fricanos more than anything. Let's start with the "no salad, no breadsticks, no parmesan, no menu, no dessert, no credit cards, and no anything else for that matter. That is the point! While every chain pizza, and most small restaurant pizza keeps changing into stuffed crust weirdness, Fricanos does not change. Period. That is the best part! For 50 years Fricanos has been one of the best, most original, and delicious pizza in America!
The crust is a special recipe that does not include cardboard, but is very unique and old.
Any rudeness percieved on behalf of the staff is likely the customer's behavior being reflected back. If the thought of eating on paper plates scares you, stick to pizza hut. If not getting things "your way" is a problem, stay home and order all the processed food you can eat.
If you want an amazing pizza that is unlike anything else in America, go to Fricanos in Holland, or the Grand haven location.
This stuff is amazing! The cooking stones in the ovens are so old they are extremely seasoned, and are part of the greatness of the flavor. I personally like sardines on mine, the only place I have enjoyed sardines on pizza.
The locals are smart enough to buy in bulk, they make half-baked pizzas to go, and we usually get 5 at a time. They finish nicely in a home oven.
Why hasn't this place "kept up with the times? Because it hasn't had to. The product is the same as when my mom was a high school student. It also should be noted that Fricanos is the first pizza available in this part of the state. People didn't even know what pizza was when they first opened. People don't know what they are missing when they don't go there with an open mind, and a hungry stomach.
