We were in the downtown area of Holland visiting 3 weeks early because the tulips are blooming ahead of their Tulip Festival. We inquired around town about a good place to eat lunch and this place got good recommendations both for their buffet and their coffee so we went there (one store owner had asked if we liked coffee, and we said we did).

It is on the top (5th) floor of a newer hotel, the CityFlats. We were seated near a window with a good view (after requesting it) and we said we would have their buffet. The place appears to be a favorite of local business people, although there were some people with one or two children there, as well as visitors.

The buffet consisted of a very good soup (It varies by day), a salad bar with good choices of Romaine lettuce & greens, spinach, cucumber slices, egg, cheese toppings, cherry tomatoes, carrots, etc. and 4 (?) dressings including a very good creamy raspberry dressing; plus there were eight different pizza-like slices on "flat" breads. It was all very tasty. We ordered coffee, regular, and decaf and they bring large French Press Coffee pots to your table. It was hot and very smooth flavor.

The tables are covered with disposable brown paper over linen table clothes, and the unusual silverware is "long" with round handles. They keep your ice water glasses filled and the water is good (not chlorine taste).

The buffet only cost $8.99 per person which we considered very reasonable, and the coffee was just $2.00.

I go here quite often for business lunches and personal dinners. The lunch buffet is excellent - it is the best salad bar in town with spinach and spring greens (no iceberg lettuce here!). The soups and flatbreads are always fresh and very good.

Every time we visit this restaurant, we are impressed with the talent and creativity of chef Shelly Rash. The menu is always changing to allow for seasonal specials. The flat breads that they are known for are very imaginative, but we didn't try them on this visit. Two friends had the Blackened Salmon and I had a spicy, perfect Tikka Massala. The portions are more than adequate and pricing is reasonable. The Blackened Salmon was served on marinated veggies and smothered in a yogurt, cucumber sauce. Very large perfectly cooked portion of salmon and great sauce. Well done!!!
The decor is contemporary in a comfortable way and the rooftop deck is wonderful in the summer.

Ate here on date night, quite enjoyed the whole experience! Awesome mushroom soup, great flatbread, & nice bottle of wine. Entrees were slow to come out, but worth the wait. The décor is very nice and the view is great. Perfect date night!

After a New Years Eve stay at the City Flats Hotel my wife and I had brunch in the restaurant on the top floor of this LEED certified hotel. Surprisingly, we nearly had the entire restaurant to ourselves for a wonderful meal with a great view. Hot coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice and a very reasonably priced menu with quality food are all reasons to eat here (as well as the previously mentioned view). Our waitress was pleasant, efficient and attentive. This is the second time we've eaten here (the other time was for dinner) and we will definitely go back, certainly in the summer to enjoy their outdoor deck.
