Haworth Inn & Conference Center
Ranked #5 of 18 Hotels in Holland
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 2, 2012

We have been to Holland more than a few times now, usually just for the day but when we stay in town we like the City Flats but this trip we thought we'd give another hotel a try. Having stayed in one of the budget hotels in the area before we were not keen on repeating that mistake so we thought we'd give the Haworth a try; who would have known how great this little hotel could be?

The Haworth is on Hope College's campus and its a small little hotel, 50 rooms. The staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming when checking in and very genuine. The lobby is open and airy, they had a couple of tables outside at the entrance that gave a very nice view of the surrounding garden areas on campus. Stepping off the elevator you are a little surprised to see names affixed to each guest room, these represent donors that have made the Inn possible. With the door opened I was very impressed with the room, tastefully decorated, the carpet comfortable, seating that called to be sat in and beds and furniture that were a cut above the usual hotel fare. The room was extremely quiet and comfortable, everything about it was great. Admittedly this is a contrast to the sleek modern of the City Flats, the Haworth celebrates traditional comfort and I must say it succeeds.

Breakfast in the morning was excellent, the usual continental choices including fresh fruit, self made waffles but the real treat were the mini sausages wrapped in pastry, say what you may until you taste one! Breakfast was excellent and a great way to start the morning. Overall I'd call this a hidden gem that we are very glad to have found. Who would have known? Now you do too. We'll be staying there again soon.

On a side note, Hope is a conservative liberal arts college so if you are expecting Big Ten foolery look elsewhere, this is a very quiet campus.

Thank you Thank you Thank you for your review! Our continental breakfast features the famous Dutch pig-in-a-blanket, which is a pork sausage wrapped in a buttery pastry. We take out the fat and calories..... Anyway, these little gems are made right on the campus of Hope College in our campus bakery by none other than Baker John. Baker John has been on campus baking for Hope students for years and years and years. He used to own a bakery in town called Hempel's. John bakes the old-fashioned way....lots of flour dust flying in the air! We are so lucky to have John around. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay!

We stayed at this location on August 30 as part of a college visit to Hope College for our oldest child. Trip included the wife and I as well as two teen aged sons. If you want to visit Hope College or the delightful downtown Holland, this is well worth a stay. Rooms were equipped with two queen beds and were quite clean. Staff friendly and helpful. You are steps away from several restaurants and coffee shops in downtown Holland and just as close to the Hope College campus. Your stay includes a continental breakfast in the morning. Although self-serve, the food was tasty and there were an impressive array of choices from fruits to cereal to sausage roll-ups. We checked out of our room in the morning before we began our campus visit, but were encouraged to simply leave our vehicle in their parking lot while we toured campus and met with a variety of college officials.
We will remember this hotel regardless of whether our son chooses to enroll at this College.

The staff is very helpful and friendly, the room was comfortable and clean, and the location is perfect. We enjoyed walking to dinner and strolling past all the neat shops downtown. Lots to see and do. It was a great little get-away. Will definitely recommend it to others.

Stayed again while moving our now junior college student into her new residence for the school year...as noted previously the breakfast included here is outstanding. But this visit I was most impressed by the SERVICE....approximately 1-2 hours after we had checked out I received a call on my cell phone from the staff telling me that housekeeping had found a phone charger left behind in our room, wondering if we had left town yet or if it should be mailed to home address....fortunately, we had enjoyed a leisurely lunch in town and were just gassing up the car to return home to WI so that timely phone call allowed us to stop back and pick up our forgotten item and saved us a major inconveniece in having to replace the missing charger.Who does this anymore??? We've left pillows, jackets, etal behind in other hotels through the years and once they're gone, they're gone! THANK YOU Haworth Inn, see you again later this semester...

We stayed at the Haworth Inn on a long weekend. The hotel and rooms were very clean and the price was good. All of the staff were friendly and we enjoyed the little gift area in the lobby for some great bargains on sweatshirts as well. It was also a good selling point to include the breakfast in the morning before we left for the day's activities - the location was an awesome proximity to downtown shopping.
