Bought our boat from an elderly couple who slipped it on Harsens Island. After finalizing the paperwork, we ate dinner at San Souci bar. Hint- you don't need to order the all you can eat perch. The perch dinner will be more than enough ! Great views and good service.

This bar and grill is better then you might expect as you drive into the quaint little 5 building city!
I recommend their pizza as their toppings are generous and delicious! And you can't go
wrong with their all you can eat perch. Eat outside on the covered patio or on the grass or sit inside in the overtaxed air conditioned restaurant and bar. Set right on the waterway you'll enjoy good food with a great view, just watch out for the flies, they bite!

I've been boating around Harsen's Island and the St Clair flats for over 35 years. I've been on the Island dozens of times over the years and been within steps of San Souci (even in the shop next door) so many times, I can't believe I've never set foot in the bar/restaurant before. Years ago Sans Souci was known mainly as a bar.. Island locals, cold beer, warm food.. THAT seems to have changed!!

After hearing from a friend, I decided to make a point of making it into San Souci for more than a drink.. I must say, it was a very pleasant surprise. The food (under more recent new management) is terrific for the price and most seems to be scractch-made. Your seat is literally just feet from passing Great Lakes ships and a steady stream of smaller boats. San Souci is still a great bar.. but the food has definitely been taken up several notches! Just across the street is a brand-new Museum of the St Clair Flats.. (small donation, worth visiting) with interesting history of the area and the many hotels/sportsman lodges that dotted the Island years ago.

Of course.. this is an island community.. to reach it will require riding a car ferry.. your own small boat ride across the river!

Between us we had ribs, French dip, a hamburger and a kids meal. Plenty of food for the price and wonderful view of the south channel. The A/C was welcome!
