Very nice big casino.
A little smoke but not to bad for a casino.
Rooms were very big with a large bathroom.

Just got back from a night at da Island Resort & Casino up der in the UP. Da room was clean & comfy. Da beds were not too soft, not too hard, but just right. Da room was not too hot, not too cold , but just right. Da shower was nice and mama bear really liked da soap. Dis place had a nice pool and whirlpool which was not too hot, ... well ... you know. They had xtra towels by da pool and no one growled when we took drinks, in plastic cups, to da pool area We had our pourage at da casino restaurant , It was really pretty good and priced right. We even took home some gold from da craps table and $230. from da penny slots. All in all a pretty good stay !!!!!!

We have stayed at this hotel in the past before the newly added guest tower and were not impressed. This stay was very enjoyable. We had a standard two queen room on the 7th floor and found it to be large, nicely furnished, very clean and it provided all the standard amenities plus some extras. The towels were large and fluffy, two bottles of water were provided and the coffee cups were china - not the typical styrofoam variety!! The casino package included with all rooms provided us with money for the casino, a free drink for each of us and $5 each off our meals at any of the restaurants on site. We ate at the Firekeepers restaurant to the rear of the newly expanded casino and were VERY plesed with the food, the service and the prices.
The pool is open late for adults and was very clean and the water was pleasantly warm. All in all, we felt this was an excellent value and a very nice place to stay.

We had a group of golfer's to try out the new Sweetgrass Golf Course. We are from Marquette, so it was only a little more than an hour away. We had a two night, three round package for $249 per person (double occupancy).

The pluses: Nice golf course - maybe a medium challenge, front desk staff was helpful when we asked for a room change due to a noisy air conditioner, most of the waitstaff were friendly, room(s) were clean, nice variety of games in the casino. Wi-fi worked good. Food was okay, and priced fairly. Lounge entertainment was a 'blues brothers' kind of band - was okay. Replay on course was $15 for 9 holes - reasonable.

The Minuses: First night room was LOUD due to air conditioner and hallway noise - was in old hotel part of complex. No kleenex in old hotel either, and has liquid soap dispenser attached to mirror - tacky. Water pressure and temperature was good in both rooms.

This is a cheap casino when it comes to package amenities, Bay Mills in Brimley spoiled our group. Only a few coupons for $5 off food, $5.00 match play, and $5.00 on card for slots (only can be used on some machines), one free drink and a reasonably useless bingo coupon if you're under 70 years old. Casino was smoky, but have been in worse. Drinks were high for a casino. Pro shop staff was spotty - we had some good people and a couple people that must have been brought in under an ADA waiver. Driving range and putting green not open which we didn't like at all.

Overall - We had a decent weekend, but had spots of poor service. STAY IN THE TOWER - the old part of the hotel is very dated and where they stick the party crowd from our perspective. Old part is also a mile away from the front desk of hotel. Beds were okay in both rooms, but the tower bedding was newer and felt cleaner. We will probably go back to Brimley next year for our trip, unless their package gets more friendly. The hotel is a little more sparse, but the golf and service is better.

Well we were going to watch 3 doors down concert so we decided to stay the night in the hotel. While the room was very nice, the prices for drinks were a bit on the pricey side for a casino, and the service at the restaurants were sub par at best. My dinner was hardly edible thank god i decided to not order the steak. Check in and out was easy though, and the concert was fantastic. I would stay here again but drive to Escanaba for food.

We stayed on a Thursday night in the older tower. The hallways were still being renovated but our room was nicely updated. We had our 3 year old with us but the staff was very accomodating and never made us feel out of place. The restaurant had a children's menu and the diner is open 24 hours. The pool was heated and they had a small workout room. Full cable selection on the TV and a short walk to get outside or eat. My husband and I took turns in the casino and it was very convenient.

We have been going to Chip-In's Island Resort Casino for a couple of years now and consider it a fun place to go. Besides the casino they have a neat pool (round) with heated sand around one end of it like a beach with cabana chairs and all. You can even get drinks served to you through an opening at the pool that goes to the bar.

Very clean and friendly staff. We try to make it there at least 2-4 times a year. J.S. Madison Heights, MI
