Birchwood Inn

I booked this room online and the pictures don't tell the real story... This inn is "quaint" in an old, needs work sort of way. Pretty run down. The rooms were pretty clean though. Smelled pretty musty and it felt a little like camping indoors. Would be great for a family who just wants a place to stay with a bunch of kids and don't need anything special. In this trip I had my mother and too older aunts and was never informed that our room was upstairs and we would have to climb two flights of outdoor rusty steps to get to the room. However, when it was pointed out to the desk clerk that this room would not be possible, she was extremely nice and worked very hard to make sure that we had a room that was appropriate even "upgrading" us to a larger room at the same price. The staff we met were all very nice and tried very hard to make our stay nice. I was just a little disappointed at the overall appearance of the place. I wouldn't say don't stay here, but if you are looking for a typical hotel room, you should probably stay somewhere else.

Room Tip: Be aware that this inn has rooms on two floors and no elevator. The family

We avoid chain lodging whenever possible, and were happy to find the Birchwood during a visit to the area, in part for the Bliss Fest. The breakfast could have used a little tweaking, but it was welcome, and we loved the lodge room, the pool area, the horse farm next door, and did i mention the affordability? We will be back.

Our family of six (four teens) recently stayed at the Birchwood Inn for a winter ski trip. We felt very, very comfortable and our two Golden Retrievers were very comfortable and welcome as well. We had two rooms with an adjoining door, which were very, very clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was a tasty bonus for our family and it was served in their Fireside Lounge with a large, real wood fireplace. All motel personnel were extremely friendly and personable, as well as accomodating of requests. They are very generous with their pet policy, making it easy to vacation with the family pet. It is an older, rustic establishment that is incredibly well maintained. We just couldn't ask for better value for our money. We will absolutely recommend this motel to all of our friends and family traveling in the Harbor Springs/Pestoskey area. We felt very well cared for! Thank you so much to the Birchwood Inn owners and staff.

I recently found the best kept secret in Northern Michigan. What a great place. The room was very clean and spacious. The staff went out of there way to answer or find the answer to all the questions I had about the area. Best of all it did not cost me a arm and a leg, very affordable for Harbor Springs.

Great hotel the true 1950's of up north, I remembered as a young man. Very quiet and peaceful the staff was always available to tend to our needs the room was very clean, view of the grounds was relaxing, my wife enjoyed the horses next store .Now the TV in room needs to be upgraded also the community room TV how about a 50" flat screen instead of the old console type, and how about letting my construction company put in a Wider and Bigger M-119 for american vehicles. Overall love the Inn, my wife and I will return..

It was nice and quiet. Located along M-119 it was a little out of the way. Decor seemed straight out of the 1970's. It wasn't run down though. Clean and comfortable.
