Our second visit to the Polish Village Cafe in Hamtramck while visiting relatives nearby. At 2pm the cozy basement was full but the friendly staff found a table for the 4 of us. The menu had many good choices with specials listed each day.
First we ordered a plate of 8 crispy potato pancakes with a side of sour cream and on request apple sauce, enjoyed by all. My brother in law and spouse chose chicken livers which they rarely eat but declared "very tasty and a real treat". My husband ate the "Polish Plate" with potato and cheese pierogi, Kielbasa, kraut, mashed potatoes and stuffed cabbage which he thoroughly enjoyed but did declare that his mother made slightly better stuffed cabbage. I had "Mushroom Crepes" with beans and kraut. The crepes were very good, the beans overdone and the kraut deliciously sour. We left comfortably stuffed and had enjoyed the warm ambience in the cafe. Come to think of it we did not eat dinner that night except for some fruit.
