This was a fun place to go in the very Polish town of Hamtramck. Its like going into Cheers as you go down about 6 steps into this small narrow restaurant. There were a couple musicians playing music while walking around. The menu is in American and polish and they actually had a Polish beer on tap. The foot was very good from the classic Pierogies to other things like Schnitzel. All the food was good and we ordered lots of everything to get to take some home. The place was very busy but service was still pretty good. An awesome place to stop if your anywhere in the area.

You know you're in an authentic ethnic restaurant when more than half of the people are speaking the native language. I've been to the Polish Village Cafe many times and the food tastes like grandma used to make (in a good way!). Even the blood soup was good. Staff is friendly and very helpful with assuring your order fits your preference.

but I feel like it in this restaurant. Un-accented english is in the minority in this place. Great food, great drinks - try something you haven't had before. Even the basement location is cool. Best Polish restaurant I've ever visited.

Basic polish fare in the "comfort food" category, not gourmet and not meant to be. What's special is the cozy atmmospher of twinkling lights, tables jammed with happy guests chatting, and the packed lines waiting to get in. Even if you know absolutely no one it feels as though "Everyone knows your name." It happily encompasses young families, the young and hip, and gray but grateful ones. I go to be happy and have comforting foods at very low prices. My rating reflects my pleasure in going there not an objective ratin gof the food.
