“Gorgeous Property”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013

This hotel is gorgeous. The facility has been recently remodeled and they did a beautiful job, the rooms were clean and updated. The beds were comfy and had all of the amenities we needed. The only downfall was housekeeping knocking on our door every morning at 9 am. We should have used the do not disturb sign. We will be back!

This hotel let us check in at 11am which was really nice so we did not have to take our car to an event we were going to. Parking is $14/night or $19/night for valet but you can come and go as many times as you would like for the same 1 time fee. The bathroom was small but was updated nicely. They had the coffee maker in the bathroom, I don't know if that is standard or just our room but we moved it out in the main area. They have a mini fridge in the room if you need to store anything. We needed 2 beds but the beds are double beds not 2 queen sized so very small. This is the best location for bars/restaurants downtown. Right across the street is the B.O.B, TGI Fridays, Hop Cat, etc. Check in and out was easy, they have breakfast at 6am, a Bistro to eat in open till 11pm, and a snack bar located next to the front desk. I did not use the indoor pool or fitness area but they said they had them. Would definitely recommend for the location.

Room Tip: Recommend trying to get 2 queen beds if you can, doubles were very small.

This Courtyard feels much more like a large downtown hotel than an average Courtyard. It's a high rise with condos on the top floors. Try to get the corner rooms as they are Jr Suites and are very spacious and nice. Also, be sure to check out the bar downstairs. They have 1/2 dozen local microbrews on tap. Overall, this is a nice property. I did experience the musty smell many also referenced but it went away once I ran the fan for a while.

What a difference a couple of years makes.

This hotel used to be drab and boring, always a fantastic location but the lobby and rooms were sub par. The renovations use the new Courtyard standard and it really helps this hotel. The lobby and bar/restaurant needed the makeover and the rooms are fantastic for the modern traveller. There are outlets next to the bed, on the desk, everywhere. They aren't huge but most have sofa beds and are spacious for a downtown hotel.

We used the valet parking and were really impressed with the valet staff. They were very attentive and did a good job. The front desk staff also are much improved.

We were there for a concert at Van Andel Arena and the kitchen had a hard time with everyone showing up at once. We were at the end of the rush and our food arrived quickly. It was hot and tasty. The convenience of being able to use the elevated walkway is worth paying more than you normally would for a room.

We usually stayed elsewhere downtown but we are glad this is once again an option and worth a look.

Walking distance to great bars & restaurants. The horsetime carriage ride picks up right out front! Great banquet facilities - attended a wedding reception that was beautiful. Good food and service. Clean rooms.

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel and this will be the last time. Even though the staff was friendly and very helpful, our rooms and yes rooms because the first two smelled so musty they moved us (after we complained) and the third room, which was upgraded to a Jr. Suite still was not the greatest smelling room it was better than the first two. The carpets were stained and gross, the refrigerator looked like it had been dragged down the hall one too many times and hair was left in the shower. This hotel for the price, needs some tender love and care and updating or in my opinon you need to lower the price. The furniture was beat up, carpets worn and furnace was so loud when it started up it kept us up most of the night. I think you should spend a little more money and upgraded to a nicer hotel.

Spent one night at this perfectly located hotel. 5 min walk to the Van Andel Arena by street or skyway. Had two rooms, both were first rate as with other Marriott properties, but the rooms were smaller than expected. Regardless, provided restful sleep environment. Hotel room service was good. Refrigerator in room was nice. Parking was $14 self or $19 valet. Large indoor pool is open 24hr. Will definitely return, especially when going to an event at the arena, the convenient location cannt be beat.
