Great rooms, great staff, like being a home away from home. Whenever in Grand Rapids the only place to stay. Close to malls, easy to get downtown, close to Gerald Ford airport. If you get a one double bed suite, you can have a fireplace. They also have pull out couches but they are not in the rooms with the fireplace.

I've stayed at this hotel many times since before it was Hawthorn. The new owner has done a nice job of updating it. The only thing I would ask for is that the staff be a little more attentive to keeping the parking lot clear of snow and ice as much as possible. It's a long walk to the lobby from some of the rooms on the far side of the hotel.

Thank you so much for the review. We are so glad that you have continued to stay with us through the brand and management transitions. We love the loyalty!! Thank you for mentioning the attentiveness to the outside of the property. We have hired two extra staff members to assist on these snowy days, so we certainly hope you notice a positive difference the next time you stay with us.
Thanks again!

We had to make an unexpected trip to Michigan due to my mother-in-law being critically ill. We initially chose this place due to it was cheap and close to the hospital she was staying at. WOW were we surprised when we arrived. It was so clean and had a fire place and it was like being in a Condo. If we ever have to stay in Michigan again, we will be staying at this hotel! I can't even say it is a hotel, like I said, it is like a small condo. Loved it!

Room Tip: The rooms with a fireplace are warm and cozy!

I've stayed here three weekends in a row this winter. They have clean, spacious, well-appointed suites. The beds and pillows are comfortable and the bathrooms have all you need. There's even a full kitchen. It's more like a small apartment than a hotel room. I consider it an exceptional value.
The only drawbacks I've encountered are: (1) the complimentary breakfast is very lame -- cold cereal, soupy oatmeal that seems to be made from oat powder, no fresh fruit, no protein; and (2) they are very slow at clearing snow and ice, of which there is a lot in GR.
The staff is very friendly and professional, though, and overall it is a place I'll probably return to regularly.

My wife and I stayed at your hotel on Saturday night (02/02/13). My wife selected your property because of the location and because of the positive expiriences we have had at Wyndham branded properties. Our stay did not live up to level of quality we anticipated.

Our observations:

The Good:
1. The suite was spacious, clean and comfortable.

2. The price was reasonable. I would have expected to pay more for reservation. The reservation was made room through an online reservation site.

3. The staff I dealt with were friendly:
I spoke to someone at about 10:00 PM (02/02/13), letting them know we would be arriving late. Very Friendly.
Derrick checked us in at about 12:30 AM (02/03/13). He did a good job giving me directions to the a parking spot and to the building.
The girl the desk at check out (02/03/13) was also very friendly.

The Not So Good (kinda bad)
1. The walkways between the buildings were not cleared of snow. It's western Michigan in the winter and had been snowing that day, but it did not appear the steps and sidewalks had been shoveled. The entry ways to the rooms were ice covered and extremely slippery.
2. It was difficult for us to find our suite. We found the building without any problem but had trouble finding our suite. The outside lighting is poor. There are no signs to direct us. The room number plaques are small and are difficult to see in the dark. We were in Suite 813. The number plaque was missing. We figured we were in the right place because the key worked.

3. There was no remote control for the television.

4. The drain stop for the bathroom sink was not connected.

5. The circuit breaker tripped repeatedly while my wife was using the dry hair dryer which was provided in the room. The breaker would not initially be reset.

I plan to be in the Grand Rapids area in the near future. The property would be a convenient place to stay and we'd like to stay there again. However, I would look to stay elsewhere knowing these conditions exsist.

Great room, beautiful (working) fireplace and kitchen, felt like a home away from home! Great value via Price line. Heat lamp in bathroom was nice! Also location was convenient but not very close to downtown Grand Rapids. Our only complaint was the icy path to our front door.

Thank you so much for the kind words! We are so glad you thought the room was nice and cozy. We love our unique rooms with the fireplaces!
Thank you as well on the feedback regarding the icy sidewalk. We are working hard to maintain the outside of the buildings in this snowy, Michigan weather!
We appreciate you taking the time to write a review - much, much thanks!
