We always enjoy dinner out here. We can always count on good food and service. We often just sit in the bar area or outside and order off the bar menu. Try their perch....it is wonderful!

The reason the parking lot is always with many cars is it is the only place around with a salad bar and people are using their coupons and key club discounts. The salad bar is nice not as big as you think it is the old there are two sides to it, with the same on each side trick.

The waitstaff is just rude, they act as if they are in a 5 star restaurant and although the prices of the food appear that way, it is not. It is a themed decor restaurant that one would think great seafood, when in fact most people order the prime rib and steak. The seafood is either salmon or coconut shrimp. The salmon is $24 and comes with the ONE trip salad bar, and a potato. For that, since the dish is not that special in taste, size etc, one could go to a chain restaurant pay $14.00 have a salad delivered to the table, have the same portion size salmon and a potato.

In addition the worst offense of this restaurant is to charge $3.00 per ice tea, sprite or what ever soda/pop you want. That is just the additional money maker for this place. The waiter does not bring the drinks they have a special person for that, so good luck in getting a refill. The waiter brings water and refills that non stop, this way no seconds on the drink you spent $3.00 on. $$$$ for the restaurant.

Now the coupons, they can be obtained in the Entertainment Book, on line at the restaurants website and if you do not use a coupon on your first trip and after you have overpaid for everything on your reciept for your NEXT trip, if you go back. A tip of 18% will automatically be added in when using a coupon, (how else will this attitude waitstaff get a tip)so even with $20 off coupon , only soda to drink , 2 people, no dessert, the bill will still be $50.00. This is not worth it. There are great restaurants through out Grand Rapids,(head down to Gaslight Village near Reeds Lake for better food, less price and great location) both non-chain and chain, where you can eat for less money, better service and better food. Do not be fooled by discount coupons and cars in the parking lot. By the way, some of those cars maybe for the other businesses in the shopping plaza this place is located in.

We went to GLSC because we had eaten there over the past several years, and the food was usually pretty good, as well as the service. Our experience this time was terrible to say the least!

Our server basically got our food order and dropped it off. She did swing by after she dropped off the food to see whether we were happy with it ... one time. But, since she brought the main meal while we were still eating our salads, we had no idea what the food was going to taste like. Neither of our main meal food items had much flavor at all. It was almost like they were pulled from a freezer and served from that state. While my husband would have like to have some steak sauce for his meal, the waitress never returned until after he'd eaten a majority of it.

The inside seating area was 1/2 empty (the outside patio had several people on it). Why our waitress only managed to come back to our table when my husband flagged her down to get our bill is beyond me. Just before she handed us our bill, she asked us about deserts. We just wanted to be done with the entire dining experience, so we opted out of desert (it's far too pricey anyhow).

The beverage person who took our drinks order never returned until just before we were paying the bill and getting ready to leave. The salad bar there was a huge mess and that wasn't the only thing messy. These two employees were sloppily dressed, their hair was all over the place, and that didn't help improve our dining experience at all.

The only relatively pleasant employees, who were quite neatly dressed, were the hostess and the young man who was clearing off tables. He was diligently working, and it was very obvious he was doing his job well.

Since we had used our EB coupon, the 18% gratuity was already going to be on our bill, so I'm guessing our waitperson/beverage server saw no reason to give us any type of good customer service. Fortunately, our EB coupon dollars off made the cost of this meal more liveable.

It was our anniversary (but we didn't share that with them), and it was a huge dissapointment! We won't be coming back. There are simply too many restaurants in Grand Rapids and surrounding areas that we can go to that will give us a great meal, at a decent price, with waitstaff and beverage servers who are pleasant, give good customer service, and who are dressed appropriately for working in a restaurant.

We dined at this restaurant last week with each of us ordering the salad bar and one each a beef dish and a chicken dish. I was pleased with the salad bar and enjoyed our meal. I really think they presented top notch food as they should for the $25-$28 entrees. However, I was disappointed with the service. The attire of the wait staff seemed rather casual (shorts and polo shirts) and their attitude matched. There was no polish in their presentation. The staff and other patrons presented like a sports bar yet the prices of the menu suggested fine dining. I was a little confused as to what type of restaurant this was.

Something must have changed since earlier reviews, because the place was teeming with wait staff last Saturday night. We had excellent service and the food was incredible. We too were there because of a Groupon - - it had been a hundred years since we'd been to Great Lakes and the Groupon pulled us back in. EVERY thing we ate was five star: shrimp cocktail, salad bar, prime rib, risotto (OK the risotto was only four stars), and key lime pie. Everything was fresh, hot, and amazing.
Granted - the average age there is a little higher than some other restaurants, but with food that good I guess the older folks are smart.
The prime rib, and key lime pie, were some of the best we've ever had.
Overall it was an excellent experience, and we'll be back again soon.
