The Amway Grand is a beautiful old hotel that has remained elegant with outstanding service. Check in was a breeze even though there were two conferences going on when we were there. We stayed in the new wing of the hotel and found our room to be large and clean. There was complimentary wifi and plenty of outlets for charging. The bathroom was a bit small with minimal counter space. We stayed on the concierge level and were impressed with the offerings at happy hour. They had bacon wrapped scallops and a caprese mini sandwich plus the usual cheese, crackers veggies etc. We were there for a tournament so did not get to see much of the city but it seems to be a great location. We ate at Ruth's Chris and it was busy but we found seating in the bar area and received wonderful service and the food was outstanding. I recommend the chopped salad and the filet - perfection!

Room Tip: Request the new wing on the concierge level for a wonderful stay.

I have one major complaint to get out of the way first: there are no Coke products sold in this hotel. None of the restaurants carry any nor are any sold in the hotel stores or vending machines. For someone who drinks a Diet Coke rather than coffee in the morning, this was a big deal. So, stock up before checking in; buy from a small grocery located nearby; or switch to Pepsi products for the duration.

We stayed in the older part of the hotel. The room was large and nicely decorated. The bathroom had been beautifully remodeled. Two minor complaints here--the general lighting in the room was poor, and it took several minutes before we could get hot water either from the faucet or in the tub/shower.

This is a huge facillity--nearly 700 rooms--and it is beautifully maintained. The front desk personnel are efficient and friendly. All staff we encountered were friendly. A shout-out here to our banquet server Eric (aka Josh): "you are the best server we have ever encountered--and the most fun!"

The location of the hotel enabled us to park our car and walk to nearby restaurants and breweries; the Grand Rapids Museum; the Art Museum; the Gerald Ford Museum and the amazing fish ladder!

Should we ever be in Grand Rapids again, we'd definitely stay at the Amway Grand!

This is a nice hotel located conveniently close to many restaurants. The concierge was very helpful finding restaurants open at the times we needed them. The hotel is lovely and has quite a few amenities. The elevators are quick and the floor we were on was very quiet. The room and bathroom were small, but we were in the older section. The shower was wonderful and the rooms were very clean. Having a Starbucks in the hotel made a nice morning.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for a conference. Despite the fact there were a lot of people checking in at the same time, the staff was very efficient. The line moved quickly.
We stayed in the older part of the hotel but it didn't matter. Everything was beautifully decorated and very clean.

Our conference included breakfast and lunch. As soon as we entered the dining area, we were greeted with choice of juice and coffee. The staff was top notch. We had the same experience at lunch.

One huge plus was the free Wi Fi through out the hotel. We will definitely go back to explore more of Grand Rapids.

My room was very quiet even though the hotel was booked for several events. I loved the choice in pillows( I usually bring my own) The bathroom has an incredible magnifying makeup mirror. Plenty of towels, and nice quality. The staff was very accommodating. I was very surprised to see some nice shops as an added bonus. The rooms also have a great view. Would recommend stopping if passing through the area.

REALLY nice staff... BIG property with tons of little shops inside.

Upper floors have a great view of the city.

My one caution would be if you are in the hotel during the time of a conference it can be VERY CROWDED. I went down to breakfast, and after waiting 5 minutes to be seated -- I checked inside the restaurant -- VERY CROWDED. I went back up to my room to order room service.

Nice, quiet, clean hotel.

Outdated hotel, musty old rooms. Can hear through the walls. The lobby is beautiful but if you care about the quality of your room you are better off staying at the JW. With an update this could once again be a top notch hotel.
