Description: Overlooking the brewing facilities, our Taproom allows customers a look into where the beer magic happens. It’s a great testing ground for us, and on any particular day you will find numerous products on draft available only at Founders. The unique offering of specialty beers, the laid back atmosphere, and thrice-weekly live music has helped to make our Taproom a staple in the Grand Rapids community and a destination for travelers.

With a niece in from Lubbock who wanted to go. In three tries we've never found an open table, the noise level is off the scale and the vibe is not my style. It might be great; I do drink their offerings in other places, but I won't try a fourth time for a seat.

We can start off by agreeing that Founder's beers are 1st rate. That's a given. The location is good and the building typifies what you like to see in a microbrewry - large open spaces with a long bar and big boards telling you what is on tap (almost always a great selection - sometimes better than great). There is a nice selection of deli sandwiches and a couple of pretty good appetizers available as well. That's all the good news. The bad news is the parking is hit or miss. At popular times, like after 3 pm just about any day, the parking will be mostly a miss and you may have a hike.

The service is really the tough one. The eclectic group working there seriously know their beers. The problem is getting one to wait on you. Whether you are at the bar or at a table (if you can find one - that's another problem) it seems to be a struggle to get one of their amazing beers served up. Or getting another one when you've finished the last one. Also don't expect all of them to be super friendly. I've been to Founder's lots of times and I'd have to classify 75% of them as "not quite surly, but darn close." As other reviewers have posted, finding seating and getting served are the biggest problems. But, if you love beer, this is the mecca in West Michigan.

As other reviews have stated, seating can be a problem. But if that is all there is the complain about there is something to be said. They also have a walk up and order area at the bar, which allows you a quick way to get a beer, without having to hover over other bar patrons.

The staff is all very helpful and knowledgeable on what they serve. The sandwich's are just as great as the beer! Make sure you try one. My personal favorite is the Stella, Tree Hugger, and Godfather.

Summer months allow you some great seating on the front open area. The rapids station might not be the best view, but your not there for the view. :)

This is a family friendly establishment, with changing tables in the men's and women's bathrooms. So a lunch with the entire family is more than safe!

Seating is sometimes hard to find as it seems like the place is always busy. Waiting is worth it. Definitely try a lot of beer and grab some food, it's amazing!

This was our first time here. We went on a Saturday at 1:00pm. There was a line of people. We were able to share a table with another couple. The food was very good and beer even better. Will go back again.
