We visited Bistro Bella Vita on the recommendation of our daughter, who is an area resident. Based on the name, I was expecting primarily Italian food, but there was a great variety of savory dishes from which to choose; an extensive beer, wine and cocktail list as well. Most ingredients are locally sourced, and there were many specials on the day we visited. I had short ribs with a sweet potato hash, falling off the bone--delicious! My wife had cassoulet, which she enjoyed, but would have preferred it to be more moist. Our waiter, Dennis, suggested when she ordered that she add a fried egg over the cassoulet, but she's not really an egg person. Our daughter ordered spaghetti bolognese, which she said is a favorite of her and her husband, and it did not disappoint. We shared creme brulee and locally sourced ice cream for dessert. I found the pricing to be quite reasonable for the quality of the food and the decor. Service was attentive without being overbearing. We plan to return when we are in the Grand Rapids area again!
