Charley's crab was a good place, once upon a time. We just visited it again, this week and were shocked at the whole ex[experience. The ONLY good was our waiter, Angus. He deserves a better place in which to work.
The prices are out of line for the quality.
The crab cakes (lower case intended) that I had were burned and served cool. The "broccoli" was limp and virtually tasteless. The creme broule was just awful. The potatoes were ok but, how does one ruin a potato?
The entire building was a DUMP! The building is settling and the floor is broken and has lots of chips out of it. It looks like a Michigan road! The men's room had a sign in it (looked permanent) that said "Wet Floor". The fllor was sticky in the places you would expect in an unkempt men's room. the wood and the cabinets were all broken or almost broken.
There were Pot Holes in the parking lot that could swallow a city bus!
The entire experience was an embarrassment to our friends that were treating us!
Too bad that Chuck Muir (the founder) was lost at sea. Landry's, who owns the property now should demolish it and start over. Charley's Crab is now lost with Chuck!
sorry, I loved this place before. Never again! don't go, the prices are way to high don't compare to the likes of other places in downtown Grand Rapids.
