Owner description: Built for a prominent merchant in 1908, this prairie-style house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is located in the elegant Heritage Hill district, where over 60 architectural styles are represented.

Similar to Chicago's Robey house in design features, this restoration is really a big treat. And it's fantastic that the scheduled tours are docent led and free of charge, just show up on time.
This Prairie style creation has all the usual Wright features and characteristics, too numerous to mention, including the entrance compression effect and secluded entrance.
You'll learn that at time of construction, 1909, the area was lightly developed so when this house came on the block it was far out, by comparison to the neighbors abodes. May's kids got teased at elementary school about living in a weird fortress house.
Flash forward and it is still modern looking today. Great place to visit and take pix inside and out.

Needed something to do while the wife was attending her conference so I found this tour and was very glad I went. The tour was very informative. The docents were very knowledgeable and answered all questions. Well worth the time.

The video that begins the tour is very insightful if you haven't already watched it from the website. The house is beautifully restored and the guides just love to tell the little stories about each room. We could take pictures and walk right into each room, it was great. The hours are very limited so make sure you are there at the right time but it's well worth it.

The video we saw first was fascinating. What an amazing work of art, with so much care and precision put into bringing it back to its intended state.

We are into Frank Lloyd Wright houses and this is a beautiful one. It is on the smaller side compared to the other Wright houses. Well worth seeing. The furniture was spectacular to see how it fit into the house. Typical Wright. Well worth seeing even if you aren’t a Frank Lloyd Wright fan.
