“Best park of our Grand Rapids visit! Frank Lloyd Wright House”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2014

We learned of this FLW house renovation from a friend and were SO GLAD we were able to visit. It is the BEST renovation I've ever toured. It was completely and correctly! renovated by Steelcase back in the days when the systems furniture was privately owned and had philanthropic funds available. Grand Rapids is known as the furniture town and is home to major companies such as Steelcase, Herman Miller, etc. They have a great video to watch that starts the tour and the docents are knowledgeable and really love showing off the house. Their hours are limited, so plan in advance if you don't want to miss this! We had a rental car and it was a bit tricky to get there due to road construction. We went to an outdated address first to get tickets, but you can now go directly to the house. I just checked the website and it is accurate. Be sure to spend time walking the historic neighborhood, also. Unbelievable how many styles are represented and the people we met on the street were friendly and shared fun stories with us. Also had lunch in a restaurant; several good ones are nearby.

“Definitely worth visiting!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 15, 2013

Such a beautiful example of a Frank Lloyd Wright prairie style home, painstakingly restored to its original appearance by Steelcase. Hours are limited, so be sure to check the website before visiting. The tour is free and informative. I didn't have a chance to visit the garden, due to the 12 inches of snow on the ground when I was there, and likewise I only took a quick look at the exterior, but it would be nice to visit again in the summer.

“Don't Miss This!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Probably the finest restoration of a Frank Lloyd Wright prairie style home in the country! It is open Sunday 1-5, Tuesday and Thursday 10-2. The video about the restoration is wonderful background before your tour of the house. Tours are always FREE! Docents are extremely knowledgable and friendly. The grounds are meticulously cared for and beautiful during spring, summer and fall. Picture taking is also allowed.

“Worth the trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013

If you are a F.L. Wright fan, this is one of the homes you will want to see. An amazing amount of restoration went into this project in time to save this classic Prairie home. And restored to it's original beauty and elegance, it is. We have visited a number of the other Wright properties and this ranks right up there with the others.
