“Booming Museum”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

The GRAM is a well rounded art museum for a mid-sized city. Grand Rapids continues to grow, and the art scene is almost beyond compare for a city this size (ArtPrize).

“Great Architecture, Small Collection”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

Great modern architecture with huge open spaces. They had live music in the huge lobby area while we visited. They had a substantial temporary exhibit "Real/Surreal" and a nice decorative arts exhibit. The permanent collection is small with mostly modern art, but it is a nice museum for the size of the city.

“An Excellent Collection”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

GRAM is a smaller museum, if judging by the scale of Chicago or Detroit. However, the collection is top-notch. The collection includes a wide sampling of the more modern era. During my visit, a Michigan artist was highlighted, along with the winner of the recent Art Prize competition. There was also a display of Real/Surreal, featuring works on loan from the Whitney (alas, no Magritte). The staff is very friendly, and my children enjoyed the activity in the Studio. A very enjoyable afternoon!

Visited with kids on a free admission day. It was still very pleasant...no crowd around the Art Prize Winner!

“Terrific collection & LEED certified building”
Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

The $12 cost for adults was well worth the impressive collection that was on display. Great permanent collection- especially highlights of 20th century artistic movements. Building is mostly lit by natural light. This adds to the enjoyment of great art. Active docents led a variety of groups with different focuses. There were many opportunities for children to enjoy/ interact. A great place for all ages of art lovers! Not to be missed!
