“getting old. . .could be kept up better.”

I didn't use the pool and don't have kids, maybe it wold be different if I did. This hotel isn't awful in any way, but it isn't that great. If you have no choice, it's fine. But if you do, I would keep looking. It's a little old and ratty. The bed spreads were falling apart, and one was actually ripped. The chain on our toilet fell off and e had to re-attach it. The walls are paper thin and EVERYONE walking by wakes you up in the a.m. Bring earplugs.

The customer service was good. But the hotel needs a re-do.

My husband and I chose this hotel because we were coming in town for our teenage daughters cheer competition with our 3 other children, and the pool there is amazing for children of all ages. (previous stay proved that) we went to the Delta Plex for competition came out and had a FLAT TIRE, NO ROADSIDE, NO SPARE, with no one to call (as we live on the other side of the state), we called the hotel to see if they had a shuttle, and the Manager Jason Vandamm immediately sent out 2 cabs for our whole family and covered the bill!!! He even offered to take my husband back the next day to try to fix our tire... ABSOLUTELY above and BEYOND their call of duty... EVERY competition we have in Grand Rapids, we will be booking our room there! The front desk was great, and check in was easy and smooth.. we were requesting connecting rooms, NO PROB. The beds were comfy, and at last minute, we realized that we needed a rollaway crib (2 little ones fighting over pack and play) in minutes, we had one at our door, NO CHARGE The room was huge, as we were able to fit a pack and play, a rollaway crib, all our luggage and then their beds, tv, desk.. etc. and the kids still had room to play in the room... I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone!

1st time to GR.Shuttle driver as like a guide on te way over. Desk staff great, and the one-woman shown doing the entire breakfast for the entire group was a pro. Cashiering, refilling everything, and cooking nice omelets. Small cost for breakfast, but Michigan is hurting. Fresh fruit was \a huge plus, and real butter and non-cellophane pastries would be welcome.
Clean room, comfy bed, 'regular' TV was fine including premium channels. Shower 'spinner' was an attempt, but nothing we'd buy. We'd really like glass (followed by plastic or cardboard)but NEVER styrofoam room and breakfast cups.
The 'Resort area' (pool/public patio, game area, and theme amenities) were dated, but not offensive and kept clean.
We kinda like the 70's/80's throwback funk but this are is probably costly.
We would never take a room facing another inside room and were glad to face the real world.
Halls and staircases dated, run down, but we'd rather they put the $ into clean rooms and good staff so no biggie,
With hotel-associated restaurants on decline, Chicago was refreshing- with hard working staff- evidence jobs are probably at a premium.
Our group liked it, 12 rooms, will come back.

We booked 6 rooms for our family holiday get together, 2 poolside rooms and 4 others. There was a lot of planning involved and Miss Sandra at the front desk could not have been more helpful. The staff was very attentive to helping keep the kids buys by even bringing out a WII game and projection screen (which meant we could all see it from afar) and had anyone interested in playing sign up to play. There were plenty of tables outside the rooms and the pool attendents were ever vigilant at keeping pool occupants safe (sometimes to a fault).
Delivery from Old Chicago was speedy and delicious.
The one problem I would suggest the hotel to work on is that one of our rooms (143) was too close to where the smokers were and all the smoke filtered into this room.

As a commuter, it is perfect to have Ramada as my home away from home on those wintry nights when I would otherwise be exhausted and stressed from the trip home or in. Old Chicago is a very nice adjacent restaurant with amazing pizza. Last year we met our families here and got a block of the poolside rooms. What a fun weekend! The hotel is a great value and although it is a bit older, the bathrooms have been remodeled with nothing being obviously neglected in other parts of the room. I believe they also have an airport shuttle if a park and ride situation is required.

My wife and I operate a trucking business that brings us to Grand Rapids regularly. As professional (travelers), our normal experience is usually marginal at best. Throughout this last summer, and currently, we've used the Ramada in Grand Rapids. The level of service has consistently been over and above the norm. From Chris DeMay helping us set up our corporate account and the positive atmosphere the manager Larry Chesner has created, we've experienced nothing but positive on every stay. The front desk operates smoothly and the location has many things to offer very close to the hotel. The positive attitude of the entire staff is refreshing, to say the least. As professional travelers, we highly recommend this place.

I would like to say that from the moment we checked in we had a wonderful experience. Marissa was very accomodating in putting us on the first floor as we requested. After getting to our room we decided that Arnie's sounded good for dinner. We called the front desk to see if she knew how long they were open as it was Sunday night. Unlike most staff I have encountered she didn't simply say, "no" and hang up. She went online to search out their web page for their hours. When unable to find their hours posted she offered to call the restaurant for us and find out. I took the number and made the call myself. Later on after we came back from dinner she called our room to make sure that we had everything that we needed and to offer to bring us anything we may have forgotten on our travels. I can't remember the last time anyone at a hotel went so far above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable not only with our room, but with our stay. I definately give the Ramada an 11 on a scale of 1-10!
