“Loved it”

This place is the best. Great beer in an old church. The stain glass over the bar is something to be seen. Try the duck nachos- I thought they were a bit greasy, but my husband is still raving about them.

“It's the beer and the food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

My wife and I took our Daughter (a Freshman at Calvin College) out for dinner on a Saturday night. WOW! What a crowd. Waited 50 minutes for a table, while my wife and I sampled a pint of the beer and caught up with our daughter: found a quiet corner back in the brewery viewing hallway where we could hear ourselves. Then our table was ready. My wife and I ordered two samplers, each with 4 different beers. I loved every one of them, and my wife loved 5 or 6 of them. We even filled our growler with one to take home.
Enough about the beer: the steak and the mussels were excellent, while the sausage on a bun, was merely good. Of course, all styles of frites were awesome.
Our server was very helpful and attentive.
Even though it was very loud and the wait was longer than we wanted, we still feel it was worth it, and plan to return... but maybe on a weeknight next time.

“Really need to go back”

Excellent beer, excellent food. The only thing is that it's rather loud and the seats are awfully hard. Still the duck nachos were fabulous and worth the backache.

“Our favorite place in Grand Rapids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2013

Beer and French food are an unexpected pairing, but absolutely magnificent in the hands of BV. Microbreweries are a dime a dozen in Grand Rapids, but BV's beer is at the top. And the food, though pricier, is worth it. Really warm, personable French/European food. Atmosphere is awesome . . . the restaurant is in an old funeral home that looks like a small cathedral. This is our favorite place to eat in Grand Rapids, and I love taking friends there.

“Beer + Bags”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013

Surprised hubby with a date night here and it was a hit. We sat outside in the courtyard and played cornhole (or bags as we call it) while we sampled our beer flight and waited for our food. Great beers...brewed on site! Food was awesome-duck nachos were crazy good. Will definitely return and bring friends.
