Description: Pietro's is a casual Italian restaurant known for over 30 years for its classic and signature pastas including West Michigan's number one pasta dish, Fettuccine Michael. As soon as you walk through the hand-carved Tuscan doors, you'll enter into the aroma of fresh-baked bread and hand-crafted house-made ravioli all made in our pasta shop daily. The authentic Tuscan tile floors, hand carved booths and Pietro's family pictures are an example of Pietro's time-inspired passion of authenticity. Our service brings your experience of classic and signature Italian recipes to life.

“a classic italian meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2012

This restaurant has been around for a long time. The old world charm of the place is great. As soon as you walk in -- you see the area where they make the pasta and breads. They are very accommodating to anything you want. This is not italian "chain food." It is delicious. They even have a $30 special for 2 that is so worth the money. An appetizer, 2 entrees, a dessert and 2 pasta dishes to take home. And they are huge portions. We go there any time we are in town.

“Slipped a bit but still good, just not great.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2012

We've been going here for years. In the past year or so we've noticed that it's not quite as good as it once was. The menu is more limited, the backroom for wood-fired pizza is closed for just banquets, the bread is pretty bad - kind of like the mushy dinner rolls from the megamart. The lobster ravioli which used to be excellent is now inconsistent as are some other dishes. Don't misunderstand, the food is still good and service is fine. It's just not the outstanding place for italian it once was.

“Old world charm, new world service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2012

"I have found a charming getaway amidst the hustle and bustle of Grand Rapids, just off the chain-restaurant-saturated 28th St. corridor. Pietros rocks the old world vibe, with an ambiance that harkens back to a Tuscan villa, serviced by a hip, energetic wait staff that knows their menu, and their wine list. Soak in the aromas of freshly baked bread, and the acoustic soothings of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra while sipping a very affordable glass of your favorite Italian wine (pssst, and ask for the D'Arrigo Pinot Noir, you'll love it!). I highly recommend this relaxing Italian oasis for a laid back lunch or a romantic dinner. La dolce vita!

“A darn shame.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2012 via mobile

Pietro's used to be THE Itallian place in town. We used to go there before GR even had Olive Garden's. The line used to be out the door, and the food was as fresh and flavorful as the atmosphere. My how things have changed :( The food is bland, the waitstaff looking rough, and the dining room mostly empty. These guys need to call Gordan Ramsey or just close the doors.

“Poorly lacking”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2012

I am completely underwhelmed by this restaurant. My family and I went to Pietro's for dinner and were served by a waiter that was sweating profusely, seemed confused, and didn't get our order right. We understood him to say that he was new so we overlooked his incompetence for a moment, but the level of incompetence and total disregard for us as customers is not something that can be overlooked completely. We waited over an hour for our meal because the waiter got the order wrong. The restaurant was NOT full so there was no excuse. We should have just walked out but certain members of my family felt that would be impolite.

There was no manager around to monitor how well or poorly in this case the staff was doing or to check on customers and we were not offered anything for our inconvenience. The other waiters noticed our situation and just laughed at the incompetence. I actually began feeling more sorry for the waiter.

As we left the restaurant, one of my family members left a tip on the table for the waiter, much to my dismay. She stated that he's just trying to earn a living like the rest of us. That's fine and dandy. It was her money and not mine. You can't imagine my disgust as I was standing at the front of the restaurant looking back at the table and saw the busboy steal the money.

We just had a horrible experience at this restaurant. Luckily I was with people who are good conversationalists so the experience wasn't as magnified as it could have been. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Poor service, inattentive wait staff, bad management, and the food wasn't even worth the wait.
