Just returned from The Homestead from staying at Fiddlers Pond. We had a King deluxe room which was spacious. The room was clean with fresh linen and towels daily. Their location is a short drive to the many shops of Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Glen Lakes. It is also a relatively short drive to Traverse City..I would say about 30 minutes.

We had breakfast at Nonna's.daily as it was part of our package..it was just okay and nothing to write home about. We had dinner at Boone Docks restaurant off the resort in Glen Arbor..pretty good meal for the money.

The accommodations are a bit pricey during the summer season but given it's easy access to Lake Michigan and various scenic views along with the manicured property I would say that it is worth a stay.

This resort has so much potential, it's a low down shame that it falls so short. There is a great beach, Lake Michigan is gorgeous, the walking paths and grounds are lovely, and with golf, swimming, a spa, gym and even a small ski slope, there is a lot to do.
Management, however, needs a crash course in customer relations. I've never been to a place that requires check in at 5pm and check out at 11am. Wedding guests were forced to change in the Gym for a 5pm wedding. The line at the front desk was never shorter than 15 min and phone calls for service often go unanswered. The A/C in our room sounded like a freight train and despite promises from housekeeping, no repairman ever showed up. A package left for us, was never delivered and when questioned, the front desk insinuated that I was lying. The ATM machine was broken and hadn't been working for weeks. The coffee machine in the lobby was out of order. Our room at Fiddlers Pond had no bureau, only a small closet with a few hangers. The shuttle to the beach (a one mile walk) was non-existant.
A management makeover would make a world of difference in this unrealized gem.

Wife and I were looking for a lake front area. This fit the bill. We were surprised that we had to take the car to a lot and then walk or take a short golf cart ride to the actual beach area. Lots of families and kids at the pool and beach area which wasn't that big. Bar area for a cocktail which was good. If you go take a look at the spa area, unbelievable! Room was good and you can't beat the area, although a week was enough. We were surprised that there didn't seem to be a lot of people around except at the pools and beach. The beach restaurant was empty during our visit and our area (Fiddler's Pond) seemed like a ghost town.

Stayed for 3 nights. Had to wait until 530pm for 2 bdrm condo to be cleaned. Wife made reservations 2 months ago, told our "shipwatch" was close to the pool. Nice view on ridge, clean condo, small bathrooms, but functional. We could hear the pool all day until close because the noise traveled up the ridge, but a 10-15 minute journey each way. Resort not stroller friendly at all. Definitely better for older kids who can ride a bike. Beach club pool ok especially for Michigan, Cafe Manitou a complete joke. Slow, average, expensive food. Cavanaugh's was void of milk and other basic staples for most of our stay. Luckily, an IGA is not too far in town. Had dinner @ Nonna's one night, best value of the stay. Excellent food, provided pasta and sauce for my 2 yo, best "bang for the buck" as far as the resort restaurants. Also ate in town. Maid service was as advertise, daily towel service for those staying less than a week. Support staff (shuttle drivers, grounds-keepers, waiters, etc) all polite. Front desk short staffed, especially at check out.

We had two rooms in the Great Lakes condos. Rooms were very woodsy but clean, maids came every day with fresh towels (Sat-Mon). Pool is open 8a-10p (11p on weekends) however the walk-up window for food service does not open until 12n. We waited about 30 minutes for our order. Four hotdogs were not even warm. Most of the shops in "the Village" were not open. Some appeared to be permanently closed. The fenced-in playground was not open, but we got in through a broken section of the fence. The grocery store/coffe shop featured the slowest service any of us every experienced.

We did however enjoy our 4 days. Go with people you like and make your own fun.

We rented a private home for our extended family of 10 people and had a fantastic time! The reception staff was very friendly, and since we'd arrived early, we headed down to the beach / pool area. We were very impressed with the spectacularly-kept grounds and welcoming staff. We parked at the "Transportation Center" and waited a few minutes for the shuttle for a 2 minute ride to the beach / pool complex (we also waked the route a few times... 5 minutes at most). The complex was very welcoming, and we settled into several comfortable lounge chairs. Just after 5pm, Seth from Reception called my cell phone and invited me to come get the keys to our house.

The house was about 3 miles off of the property (we knew this in advance) in the town of Glen Arbor. The house was spectacular! A four-bedroom house with a loft for the kids to share and very large common area and kitchen. We enjoyed preparing and eating several meals (including BBQ on the back porch... propane tank was full!) together. Beds were clean and comfortable, and the house provided enough room for 10 of us to be together or find a quiet corner away when we wanted to. It was very quiet and peaceful, and the neighbors were quite friendly.

The beach and pool complex at the resort was perfect for us and the kids; some of us lounged on the beach or swam in Lake Michigan, or jumped in the pool and hot tub. Full-time lifeguards reassured us that the kids were safe. The cafe connected to the pool served food and drinks, so we didn't have to leave to eat. At night we went back to the beach for a beautiful sunset over Lake Michigan (we also watched the sunset from the scenic drive at the Sleeping Bear Dunes park--Station 9 on the drive is the best place to see it from).

Overall, I would certainly recommend this resort to friends, and we plan to return on our next trip "up North". The property is more expensive than some other options in the area, but the value is absolutely here, and you won't be disappointed or feel that you overpaid.

Staying in fiddler's Pond, we had a comfortable, clean room, with a nice view and easy walking distance to the pool, hottub, Nonna's, ski/golf area and the stores with a little something for everyone's basic needs. A wonderful selection of chairs and loungers awaited us out by the pool and tennis courts overlooking the beach, where we enjoyed both sunny and shady spots overlooking the big lake. Great restauraunts, bars, hikes and weather! We also enjoyed the town of Glen Arbor, where we kayaked the Crystal River, ate at Art's and shopeed daily at Cherry Republic! Nice wineries in the area, also, also other beaches in Good Harbor area worth the visit. Hope to go back soon, and will hope for affordable rates and/or packages for the period of our stay. Will definitely go back sometime!
