“Great Time!”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

We had a wonderful time at Splash Village. We went with my almost 2 year old daughter. What was great is that we could take her on all the slides with us as long as we had her on our stomachs. She loved all of the water slides and the lazy river. We were allowed to go into the splash park before our room was ready. They have lockerrooms with lockers that you can purchase, $3 for 2 locker tokens. The splash park was very crowded when we first got there but after dinner around 7pm the crowds were down. Also right when the park opens for the day it does not start to get crowded for an hour or so.

We had a dragonfly room which I felt was very nice considering it has a microwave and mini fridge. We had nice and comfy beds and linens. We did find a dirty shirt and pack of old gum in the room that was not ours and was left over from the last guests. That was our only problem.

We did get the chicken dinner and breakfast option. The food was OK, great deal though. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would go again in the future.

Room Tip: We had a room that was away from the waterpark and closer to the quiet pool. This was nice because...

Splash Village is a difficult property to review. Taken solely as a waterpark/fun adventure fo the kids it's above average. It's not the roomiest of parks out there, but it des have something to offer everyone...including a larger traditional pool on the other side of the property for those who want a little more elbow room.

As a hotel...it's average at best. There's only the one elevator off the main lobby, the dining optons o n property are pretty limited and the food is barely adequate. The family suite we had was clean...but it's beginning to look a little frayed.

If you have a family and want the kids to have a fun stay..this is the place. If you want a little more quiet time and want to be closer to the charm of the village...and that awesome brewery...I'd stay elsewhere

This is a wonderful Waterpark for families with young kids. My daughter and I took my two Granddaughters there over President's weekend. The hotel was all booked, but you can call and get a half day pass for $25 each. The times are either 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., which is 5 hours. That is plenty of time to play. The water in the lazy river is only 2.6 ft deep until you get over to big tube slides, then it is 3.6 ft. Wonderful for kids that are 4 ft or under. They have lifejacks for the little one's that don't swim. Also, there are small tube slides for the little kids that go into about a foot of water. The girls love the big bucket drop with filled water. It is done continuely. There is a hot tub for family and kids to use.
This is the second year that I have taken the grandkids.

Rooms were clean and bed comfy. Disappointed that the suite had only a half wall to seperate spaces. However, waterpark was extremely crowded both days. Allowing day passes is not a good idea for the size of this waterpark. Only guests should have access. One man came in and bought 13 DAY passes. Just added to the crowd! No place for kids to just 'swim' in the waterpark without basketballs flying at your head. Had to use the seperate back pool for this, which seperated our party into two sections of the hotel. No place to buy snacks or munchies...only one restaurant. Good pizza though. Had a movie playing in the evening but was never told nor was it printed anyplace so we missed it by the time we saw it playing. Very disappointed for the amount of money paid. Had kids ranging from 5-8 years old in our party.

Hotel room suite was very nice and roomy with all the comforts of home. Seemed a little pricey at first but a full sit down breakfast was part of the package for our family of 7. With the pool and water slides available all day it made for a great deal and stay. The indoor water park was a really big hit with the kids.

Room Tip: If you was quick access to the indoor water park be sure to ask for a room/suite close by. Some roo...

PROS:
Rooms were clean and updated. Had a flat screen TV (although the picture quality was worse than the "old school" TV we just threw out), microwave, coffee maker, and mini fridge. Rooms felt spacious and were very adequate for a family of four. Bed linens were updated and not that "slimy" bedspread of older hotels.

Staff were pleasant and helpful

Elf Hollow Cafe was very reaonably priced considering it was an in-hotel restaurant. We ate for dinner and everyone liked their food & kids meals were around $5 (compared to $10 at the Great Wolfe Lodge). Breakfast buffet was $10 and came with coffee. Kids prices were cheaper. Lots of variety of food for breakfast.

The hotel has another pool in a seperate area of the hotel. It had a pool of 3 feet deep, a hot tub, and another pool that didn't get over 5 ft. deep. My 5 year old liked this pool better as the main waterpark was teaming with too many people for her liking.

CONS:
The waterpark, arcade, and locker rooms were very compact. There were chairs & tables in the waterpark area, but so smushed together that there was no room to relax without being bumped into or splashed. All of the areas of the waterpark (toddler, big slides, hot tub, etc.) were practically on top of each other. Navigating the park made me feel like I was in downtown Chicago at Christmas

The pool towels were the size of an oversized hand towel. It has the plushness and absorbency of fine grit sandpaper. I'm not exagerrating either. The waterpark did not have adequate supplies of these "towels" all afternoon. Ridiculous.

The pool in the other part of the hotel as circa 1970's. The filtration system was obviously not at full strength as large hair balls were swirling all afternoon in both in the hot tub and the pool. Gross.

My extended family has gone to Great Wolfe Lodge several years in a row. We wanted to try something different this year and the consensus was that we want to go back to the Great Wolfe Lodge next year.
