We travelled from St. Clair Shores, Michigan to the Crossroads Village andf Huckleberry Railroad. It took about an hour. It is near Flint. Our 8-year old twin grandchildren loved the train ride and the comments and jokes the conductor told. The train is old , but refurbished and in good condition. It is a 40 minute ride. The train and town are reminiscent of old cowboy movies, so it is enjoyed by many adults. The village consists of about 8 old buildings, three of which sell items and/or food. The bank and barber shop are for viewing and are good for teaching some history. The trip is a nice short getaway that you can pace yourself. We did attend the "Magic Show" and found the kids loved and participated in. Lots of learning chances.
