The vibe of this place is a mix of country comfort and chic beach. Very cozy and comfortable spot to relax with the aroma from the fireplace filling the room. I had the scallops which were very good and came highly recommended by our server. The complimentary Cornbread muffins with orange infused butter was like having dessert first. Love this place!

We celebrated our anniversary with an amazing meal at Local Kitchen! We started off with wine & drinks with Michael, "St. Louie", behind the bar. The house made sodas, Manhattens and the Ant Hill Pinot Noir were all perfect! Michael was great and very knowledgable! Kelly took care of us during dinner and she was fabulous! Appetizers included sticky wings, the mac-n-cheese with candied bacon and the mushroom gratin, which was arguably the best taste of the eveing! We all shared and sampled the Pork Special, Scottish Salmon, chicken pot pie, and the bacon burger all of the entrees were delicious!
Overall a great experience and well worth the cost and the short wait for the table. We are looking forward to returning during warm weather when the dining room is opened up to the patio!

The panzanella (sp?) salad is just perfect; as well as the accompaniments I had with my steak. I liked the aimple yet quality wine list, too. However, the service could be a lot better. Our server hardly described any entrees; even when questioned. And, the manager, Martin, was not very nice at all...he seemed troubled with my friend & I just being there as they were closing...even sighing us off at one point (@ like 10 pm-ish!)! However, mixologist St. Louis was very knowledgeable, patient, kind and welcoming. I wish all the employees were like him. Although the food was a winner, I really just felt like we were a bother to much of the staff.

We're from out of town, but a local put us on to the Local. We started with fried green tomatoes, an appetizer I would not have ordered except for the server's enthusiasm for them. Excellent! The chicken pot pie had tender chicken yet crisp vegetables, quite the trick! The spinach salad was good and the drinks reasonable. A roaring fireplace made for a somewhat smokey atmosphere, but it was warm and inviting.

First time visit to Local Kitchen. Really good experience. Very comfortable, warm (literally - we were near the fireplace on a cold snowy day), friendly place. Better than most wine (by the glass or bottle) list, wide beer selection (draft and bottles). Small menu well thought out for cozy, comfort food. Will be interesting to see how it is adapted for warmer season. Noise level acceptable considering the high ceilings with little to soften the sound. One reason it was OK was probably that the play list was interesting, not too commercial or bland. At a level where you could talk at the table without shouting and nice to listen to when there were quiet times.

Waiter had his timing right - knew when to check, when to stay away. Answered all questions re food prep/flavors and pairings and kept smiling a real smile..Thank you Michael.

Portion sizes good - normal sized sandwiches (not falling off the plate or out of the bread, possible to eat without making a mess everywhere). Small salad accompaniment was crisp, well dressed and a good balance. The poutine, while really yummy is probably not very good for you but that didn't stop us from eating it all! Nice dessert menu reminds me of things Mom might have made (but didn't) - all homey cakes and pie-in-a-jar and fruit things.

The communal table near the bar would be nice for a dinner almost like being at home (but not having to wash the dishes).
