“Hans makes the difference”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

Food was very good but the personality of Hans makes all the difference and he is certainly the reason we will be making a return visit.

“Worth the trip for good food”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

We've known about this restaurant for a long time but never managed to get over to it. The decor inside the rail car was great although the view out of the window was not. But the food and service made up for it. The make-your-own pasta was a hit with one of our group. The veal piccata was tender and flavorful. The martinis served at another table looked enormous. All drinks were reasonably priced. Service was very attentive with Chef Hans never far away. Only open for dinner on weekends in the Fall and the place fills up fast. Make a reservation. We also went right at 5 pm when it opened; it filled up quickly and by 6 pm, had people waiting. There's a small section at one end for small private parties. There is a very small but comfortable bar. Looks like they have outdoor seating but not open when we were there. Definitely worth the trip.

“THE BEST for many reasons”
Reviewed September 25, 2013 via mobile

You know, we've had some wonderful meals in many venues all over the US. Gratefully. Lucky in life. We had a lot of fun here. Hans was wonderful, his Caesar authentic, as is his menu and his unique setting. Rachelle, our server, a delight. Classic Italian well done. Very reasonably priced. Loved the location in a train coach retired in 2007. Two wonderful gentlemen in the bar provided entertainment and they had a great time doing it. Honest, heart felt food, service and fun with integrity. Don't usually feel this way but I recommend this restaurant without hesitation if you are of a like mind. Even if not, the meal and the wine selection by the glass (and bottle) were wonderful. Enjoy.

“Unexpected Gem in Fennville”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

We live about five miles from Fennville and had never heard of this Gem in Fennville except Sunday night our neighbors suggested we try the restaurant. The food was wonderfully prepared (fresh basil from the restaurant's outdoor garden), excellent service by "Rachelle," and "Hans" was very attentive throughout the evening. Don't know how it is during "tourist season" because the dining car holds only seating for 30, but there is a "private" dining car table for six, plus dining in the renovated silo. It was reminiscent of how dining cars used to be. Winter hours begin soon so I would recommend calling for dates and times. The Lounge area is very cozy, and their white house wine was very good!
