My family (husband, 9yo girl, 12yo girl) & I stayed at the end of July.
We had a wonderful experience.
The first thing I'd like to say is that you must take the mile (one way) treck past the boat launch down to the Bay. We didn't do this until the end of our trip & wished we went earlier!
It is a long walk so bring plenty of water & maybe a chair to sit & enjoy the scenery before heading back. The water is clear, calm, & free of muck. If we would have known just how nice it was- we would have brought our suits & a better camera.
I was floored at the beautiful of the channel leading out to the Bay & the lush wetland on one side & the stunning sea oats on the other. Complete silence & overwhelming natural beauty. We saw deer prancing through the cattails & fish splashing among the lillypads.
The actual campground is quiet, small, & far off of the beaten path. My daughters were able to ride their scooters around or walk our dog without my worrying about traffic or strangers.
Nice lots with cement pads & lots of trees & grass.
Large fire-ring for each site.
There is a small screened-in pavilion for day-use rental for a small fee.
The playground is small but well kept & has sand instead of wood chips.
There is ice & wood for sale onsite.
My family & I WILL be staying again!
