I always enjoyed this sub shop as a child, went here a few months back and was very very disappointed:( they were more like a sub from a deli or walmart:(

“Delicioius and FAST!”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

We are so lucky to have such a place in our little city. This is a locally owned and operated sub shop, but only offering steak and chicken hot subs... but don't let the limits fool you! They are delicious! The bread is fresh daily and he (Doug, owner) cooks everything up right in front of you. It's located right on main street (Ludington Street) in downtown Escanaba. Give this place a try next time you want something a little different! My favorite is steak, extra cheese, and pepperoni (gives it a tad of spicy kick). Be advised that this isn't a 'dine in' restaurant. Food is cooked to go, and they are closed every Sunday.
I'm a local, and we get dinner here at least twice a month :)

“A familiar little gem of a Sub shop right in Escanaba- oh yaah, eh!”
Reviewed October 12, 2011

There it was, "Ramidos Subs"...had driven by it 1000 times, never stopped. Stomach says to self "I'm hungry, feed me, but feed me something 'different'."
I thought about NOT having had a GOOD 'ol Steak & Cheese" for months now, and decided to drop in on Ramidos. Good choice, stomach! Ramidos is strictly a no-nonsense, carry-out place. The manager and main operator, Doug, told me that he is originally from the Boston, Mass area. Be advised: this guy is great, but with a slightly different sense of humor. He may verbally joust with you a bit (IMHO, in a good way), and that is part of the fun of going in there). Anyway, you can have ANY kind of sub *as long as it is either Steak and Cheese OR chicken (smile)...with various dress ups, e.g. peppers, etc. at a slight additional charge. TWO options on the cheese...but now the best part- the Steak & Cheese really is a "no-nonsense" hot sub, loaded with freshly cut/shaved in store rib eye steak and tasty American or Provolone cheese. Oh, and yes, I've been to Philadelphia and enjoyed their famous "Philly Steak & Cheese." Ramidos is right up there. Sorry that I cannot report on the chicken sub, but honestly, why mess with perfection with the S&C available. Two sizes fits all- eight and twelve inch subs.

As a carry-out, Ramidos is blazing fast, to the point of "Why bother to phone ahead?" Besides, that gives a little more time to have a verbal exchange with manager, Doug! BTW, the establishment is clean but simple and a bit time-worn, as if it has a long history in the town (probably so) and I like that feeling. Nothing wrong with national chains, but local feels, and is nice.
I'd say "Go elsewhere" if like the SNL knock-off of the Arnold Schwartzenaager character says, you are a "little girlee-mon" and want a health-food salad or fruffy sandwich. Sink your teeth into one of Ramidos Subs and be darn glad that ya did!
