“You HAVE to go! Really?”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

No, not really. Had heard much about the hamburgers and the Long Island iced teas. And had heard I HAD to have them. No, I didn't. Burgers were not seasoned in anyway - not flavorful at all. Lettuce and tomato are extra. Long Island wasn't anything special (wasn't bad - we all hate those - but wasn't worth going out of the way for). Glad I got it out of my system and can go on with my life.

“a must on game days”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

To get some collegiate atmosphere (and a beer) The Peanut Barrel is a good stop for lunch or just a drink. Game days there is a good crowd and additional football to be watched on the multiple TV's. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating. If there is alot of traffic. there is ample parking in a parking garage one block over.

“didnt meet expectations”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

I was recommended to this place so it is probably better than when i experienced it. All bar two of the staff weren't friendly (perhaps overworked, they may have been unexpectedly busy), the food (burger and fries) was overcooked and barely edible, although cheap; one bartender took the time to talk to me about the beer and advised me well. I suspect this place makes its money as a student drinking barn during semester.

“Thank goodness some things stay the same!”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

The business strip across Grand River Avenue from Michigan State University changes constantly, but the Peanut Barrel persists--like a living fossil, only better tasting! Hardy Michiganians start sitting in the outdoor patio as soon as temperatures rise above 50 degrees, or the sun is out. You go for burgers and beer. Or just beer. The indoor dining experience changed drastically for the good when the no-smoking laws went into effect.
