“Great location and nice B & B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2009

The Wild Goose Inn is in downtown E. Lansing and literally one block from campus. It is a quaint B & B. The room was beautiful. I experienced only one glitch based on a mis-communication. However, the innkeeper more than made up for my inconvenience. This was so much nicer than staying at the large Marriott down the street.

The Wild Goose Inn was the perfect setting for our mini get-a-way. The Autumn Arbor room was well appointed and unique. Along with the fireplace and jacuzzi, the host had fresh flowers and candles in the room—what a thoughtful touch.

Breakfast was fantastic and prepared once we arrived in the dining room.

The host was knowledgeable of the area and directed us to a great studio with a free Dr. Seuss exhibit. We had a wonderful time and beyond recommending the Wild Goose Inn to others, we will return ourselves.

I stayed at the Inn for one night on a very cold december night. Inside the inn it was lovely warm and we were quickly greeted by one of the friendly employees who showed us to our room.

We were in the summer safari room, which features (amongst others) a nice 'for two' jacuzzi and a lovely fireplace.

All the details in the room were simply fantastic. I already had quite an idea what the place looked like from the pictures on the website, but in real life it looked even better.

The Inn keeper was very friendly and asked us if everything was alright and if we needed anything when we were on our way out for dinner.

The breakfast was really nice, with fresh fruit, muffins and eggs any way you like (I had an omlette, which I definately recommend!). There was also a choice of french toast.

Upon check out the Inn Keeper gave us a complementary Christmas ornament, which was just another great small touch to this place!

This place is amazing--I can't recommend it highly enough! I couldn't decide which room I wanted when I booked my two night stay, so I picked two--Summer Safari for the first night, and Autumn Arbor for the second. Both rooms were AMAZING, though the decor in Autumn Arbor takes the cake--the canopy of fall leaves on the ceiling and walls is incredible and must have taken forever to accomplish. And the jacuzzi-tub alcove with its stone surround was just beautiful--so relaxing, and nicer than any jacuzzi tub I've seen in a hotel or timeshare. Oh, and there was a little jar of bath salts on the tub waiting for me in each room! What a nice touch!

It's obvious that the innkeeper (he introduced himself as "Al") loves his inn and his work--he and his staff are SO friendly, SO accommodating, and not in a "please give us a good review" kind of way. They just seem like genuinely nice people who happen to be running an inn. Breakfast each morning was wonderful--there are little 2 and 4 person tables for the guests, newspapers to read (if that's your thing), and fresh coffee, tea, or juice as soon as you sit down. There were also fresh muffins--blueberry the first morning, and cranberry (with some sort of nut--i forgot to ask!) the second. I ordered omelettes both mornings, though I was also offered eggs "any style" or French toast.

There are so many other little details that I could mention--like the welcoming fire burning in the common room when I arrived, and the soft music playing during breakfast, and the little tealight candle holders all over the rooms and around the jacuzzis, with books of matches near each one. If you are planning a trip to East Lansing, you should really stay here--you won't regret it.

Stayed here because the hotels in the area looked just too drab. This was one of my best staying away from home experiences ever. The rooms are magnificently decorated, every detail is attended to - including wine openers and state of the art shower heads. The jacuzzi was fantastic and the fireplace added to the ambiance. I will probably return just to experience this place again. By the way, the brakfast was ummmm good!

My husband and I stayed here one night as a last minute escape from the kids and though we had only driven cross-town to get there, we felt as though we truly did have a getaway. As we were the only guests that night, the owner took us through each room and let us choose. We chose the Summer Safari room, but it was a tough choice as each room was cleverly decorated and had a jacuzzi. We loved the little details such as candles around the room.

The breakfast was tasty and filling (we had a choice between french toast, omelet and eggs as we please) and we really enjoyed the easy conversation with the owner who has a genuine love for the area. The best part, however, was the location. It is right off of MSU campus and in the main walking area for East Lansing's restaurants, bars and shops. I highly reccomend the Inn as a place to stay when visiting MSU or the greater Lansing area--it beats a stay in any of the chain hotels.

The Wild Goose Inn is a terrific option if you're looking for a non-chain lodging option immediately next to downtown East Lansing or Michigan State University's campus. (Be forewarned, though: MSU is a huge, huge campus and you may not be within walking distance of where you want to be.)

It's also a great place to choose for a romantic weekend or evening. There's a jacuzzi in every room but one. We stayed in the Winter Eden room, which was amazing. Impeccably designed. Nice wooden floors, tiled shower, comfortable bed. There's a DVD player and TV. The jacuzzi room is *huge* and features skylights and candles. Very cool touch. The breakfast was excellent! The owner is a nice guy and not intrusive at all.

There's only one warning with this B&B. There's no central air and no air conditioning unit in the rooms. So, given that we stayed here in the heart of July, it was *hot*! Granted, with Michigan's weather there are only about three months of the year in which you need A/C. I recommend that the owner add A/C units to each room.

Overall, though, this is a great choice for a B&B.
