Owner description: MSU's huge country-like campus offers a lovely setting for running, biking or just hanging out, and also has places to visit, like the Beal Botanical Gardens, Sanford Natural Area, the 70,000-capacity Spartan football stadium, an art center, planetarium and, of course, the MSU Dairy Store for ice cream.

Sparty, the rock, the stadiums, the north dorms and circle drive, fraternity and sorority row are all awesome things to see. Just make sure to pay your parking meter or ull regret it!

Visited Breslin Center to watch MSU and North Carolina. We were all wearing our Carolina blue and experienced nothing but the best treatment from the MSU fans. The campus was a beautiful place and one I hope to visit in the future. An added bonus.....no parking fee!

I have visited many Big Ten campuses (and attended two) and was surprised at the subdued nature of this campus. Perhaps the students feel a threat from the Big U down the road in Ann Arbor? It's a pretty campus with a river running through it, but you don't feel the intensity or the intellectual curiosity present on so many college campuses or even on a downtown campus. Definitely try to attend a football game [although you can't even bring your purse inside! you end up loading your pockets with your belongings: calling all pick-pockets!] and enjoy the Marching Spartans. And if you have a chance, visit the MSU Art Museum. Spectacular. WKAR is worth a look, too. The quality of content is declining the past two years or so, but it is fun to watch production. Definitely take a walk up to Beaumont Tower in the fall. It's lovely.

places in the country....the campus has architecture, gardens (world award winning), walking and biking trails, an incredible carillon tower; (Beaumont) which will stop you in your tracks when the concert begins, museums, two performance complex theaters, multiple sports venues, the BEST dairy & ice cream anywhere (and yes I'm including Italy and Switzerland!) and plenty of green space. MSU is a self contained (environmentally friendly) campus, a little 'city' unto itself. It's my alma mater, but also a place I return several times a year just to visit.

The grounds are always stunning...the faces friendly and the ducks near (and in) the river hungry. The campus is mostly dog friendly...dogs are not allowed in the horticultural gardens....but the dairy has always had a little 'sample' ready for a pup wearing her MSU collar :)
There is shopping right across the street along Grand River and plenty of restaurants, but, weather permitting we prefer to picnic by the river..and weather permitting or not, we always stop at the dairy.

Be sure and check their website msu.edu if you're planning a visit...there are so many events, you never know what you might find. Throughout the year there are music, cultural, sports (Go Green!!) family, children's and even major animal events and competitions scheduled. We especially enjoy the holiday and summer art fairs (both on and off campus--across Grand River).

You can stop at the information center on Trowbridge Road for parking passes (there is a small fee).

Visiting Michigan State is a great way to spend a day or even a weekend and for us, it always been great to come 'home'.

Michigan State University is a wonderful place to work, visit, and attend. I've worked here for 37 years and enjoyed many of the vast opportunities campus has to offer. from the museums to the concerts, to the games and the restaurants. The Chapel is a great place to hold small, intimate weddings, or the Union is for a much larger group and can also take care of the reception. The student union has stores, restaurants and a bowling alley for fun and gatherings. The Beal Gardens and the Horticulture gardens are gorgeous places, the Beal garden specializes in native plants and the Rose garden in late summer is unbelievable. There is so much about MSU that makes it THE university of Michigan!
