“Not a Bad Seat in the House!”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

Recently saw "Wicked". We sat in the back row of the balcony and had no problems seeing or hearing the show! Quality performance and helpful attendants! Parking was a bit crazy - but was expected.

“Great Shows, Horrible Venue”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

I do continue to go here, usually several times a year, because of the quality of the shows. They get a great variety, and it is an opportunity to see the traveling versions of Broadway shows.

However, it is the worst professional level theater I have ever been in.

The first problem is the layout. As many seats as possible are crammed into the space, making it uncomfortable and inconvenient. There is less leg room than on an airplane, and worse, there are no aisles. Not only is that extremely inconvenient (each row extends from one side of the theater to the other with no break,) it severely limits the shows themselves. Many shows (the Lion King is a great example) need aisles so that the actors can make entrances and exits.

The other major issue is the sound quality. It is muddy at best. There's no "ring" at all. Often, you can't understand what is being sung, even in the better seats. At worst, some seats are virtual "dead zones". The theater was clearly designed to look nice, with no thought to acoustics. It doesn't matter in some shows (like Celtic Woman, who use huge banks of speakers in their set,) but most of the time it is terribly frustrating.

My husband and I have attended the Wharton Center numerous times to watch and listen dances, concerts etc through the past 20 years and have always enjoyed ourselves. Also parking is excellent!

Every performance I've attended has been wonderful. The setting is very sophisticated. Parking is easy - in & out.
