What a beautiful drive up the Western side of the Keweenaw Peninsula of Northern Michigan! And then you come upon Jacob's Falls and the Transfiguration Skete (monastery of the Orthodox rite). The monks collect fruits of the forest, blackberries, blueberries, grapes, raspberries, apples etc., and make delicious jams, jellies and butters. They also make cakes, breads and cookies that you can purchase at The Jam Pot, located right next to Jacob's Falls. After loading up on the goodies, continue on to visit the historic Fort Wilkins, where costumed docents perform tasks from earlier times. It's a long drive, but well worth the time!

Jacob's Falls is right next to the road, so no need to hike anywhere. You don't even have to get out of the car to see it. Beautiful falls.

Very worthwhile stop to eat your bakery goodies after visiting the Jampot Bakery. Good photo stop too.

This falls is right on M26 so easy access & viewing. We parked nearby and walked back to see it. Very nice & worth a stop.

In some places, you have to really get armed with maps and knowledge (and proper attire and shoes) to get to waterfalls and other natural gems. Upper Peninsula of Michigan is well-known for clearly marking and mapping their natural treasures, hoping to attract tourists to the area (and it works!)

This is easy to see right off the highway. We stopped here to explore for a little bit on our way to other falls in the area. It was even more beautiful at the top of the falls!

You can pull over on Hwy 26 and view Jacob's Falls, it's right on the road. It's a steep narrow falls, but pretty.

Stopped along the way as we were exploring the Keweenaw Peninsula's waterfalls! This was an easy one to find, right along the roadside stop. The bonus of this one is that there are multiple waterfalls as you hike up the side trails. These additional falls require some stamina and good hiking shoes but hike is worth the effort!
Highly recommend!

While it is true that the vast majority of waterfalls in Michigan are in the Upper Peninsula (I think there are only something like two in all of the Lower Peninsula), Jacobs false is just a modest one where the creek tumbles down the rockface. On the plus side it's immediately adjacent to the road, so you can see it and be on your way in two minutes if that's all you need. Ultimately, there's a hiking trail that walks up beside it, and you could probably hike for about an hour or two in the beautiful woods.

But most importantly, the falls are immediately adjacent to the Jam Pot, the jam and confection store run by the monks of the nearby Poorock Abbey, of the Holy Transfiguration Skete, a Byzantine Catholic Monastery. Check out the reviews for that and enjoy the jams and cakes!
