Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast
Ranked #1 of 7 Douglas B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence

We had never stayed in a B&B and did not know what to expect. This place exceeded our expectations. Keith and Sue were kind, helpful in their recommendations around town, and make a mean breakfast. We stayed in the Treetops Room - looks better in person than it does online, very clean, and quiet. Location was great - within walking distance to the beach and away from town, but still within a 5 min drive to Douglas and Saugatuck's main areas.

Thank you for the great stay!

Beautifully appointed rooms. Excellent location. Less than one minute's walk from the cliff/beach road and just a couple of minute's drive from beautiful Saugatuck.
Sherwood Forest B&B is located on a very quiet street in a beautiful and serene neighborhood. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a lovely place to unwind.
The hosts were extremely friendly and gave us lots of information on things to do and see nearby.

Had a great time staying at this B and B..My first time in one,and although I did not know what to expect , I was pleasantly surprised . The home was close to the beach and also in biking distance from Saugatauk .There was a nice pool there well taken care of and peaceful. The rooms were well taken care of and large as well as the bathroom which was oversized .My wife and I were treated well By The propriators. Because it was her birthday they had suggested different ideas to make it nicer for her i.e. fruit and cheese in the room , Red Roses , and a wonderful birthday cake .They were great also in suggesting restaraunts and local attractions. They made sure that for the hard to get into ones that we were put on an advance waiting list . I would highly recommend this for anyone going to the area .

We had a wonderful time at Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast. The room was clean and very comfortable. The Inn is charming with an outstanding location. You are just a few hundred yards from the beach, but close to both Saugatuck and Douglas. The innkeeper was very helpful both as travel advisor and host. There are great places to visit and to eat in the area and he had the inside track on all of them. The breakfast was light and flavorful and the relaxed atmosphere started the day off well. We used the bikes that are available as our mode of transportation most of the time and had a great time viewing the local architecture and wonderful scenery! We would highly recommend this Inn for a relaxing weekend getaway.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we pulled up to this wonderful B&B. Having never come to Saugatuck or Douglas, we were not sure what to expect.
Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast is situated on a pretty tree-lined street with the superb Lake Michigan at its end. The house is striking in its restoration and upkeep. We stayed in the log cabin suite, and sweet it was. Super cute replica of an actual log cabin, with timbers on the ceiling and walls. The room also had a two-sided fireplace and a spacious jacuzzi tub. Very clean and comfortable, especially in the time of year in which we visited, during the cold spring month of March. Vacationing during this off season time was actually very pleasant. The towns of Douglas and Saugatuck were pretty much in hibernation mode, save for a handful of restaurants and the coffee shop (a necessity in my book). The dunes and shore line were totally empty and peaceful. Coming from Chicago, it was a breath of fresh air to truly get away from it all.
Sue and Keith are very nice innkeepers and fix a mean orange infused french toast. They are very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend this B&B for any relaxing getaway any time of year.

I highly recommend Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast, I had the plesure of spending a few days in this dream place with my partner.
We had the Victorian Suite which was just fantastic. We didn't want a TV in the room which give us time to play chess and other board games, as well as giving us time to relax. There was a two-person jacuzzi in our suite as well as a fire place, both of which helped make our evenings romantic. The experience was definitely something to look forward to to get away from a big, loud city and every day hastle.
There is a TV in the Living room if you want and High speed internet so we could check our email on our notebooks.

The owners Keith & Sue are the nicest people to be around. They were funny and very helpful with directions and recommendations as to where to go in town and what is good. They really helped us out.

We loved the atmosphere, the privacy, the décor inside and out, like the flying pigs (painting, statue, ???) made by a local artist. You can listen to the birds, and in our case the evening rain (that we hoped was a spring rain) from a porch wrapped around the house. It truly is a magical place. Not only is it friendly and easy way to get to, but it is also a 5 minute walk to the lake front. I promise you, you will LOVE IT just like we did.

I highly recommend this dreamy house with sweet porch and the nicest people you can meet.

Margaret

My husband and I frequently go to Saugatuck during the off season and decided to stay overnight for Valentine's Day. We were looking for something romantic, cozy, with a hot tub and affordable. While searching from different computers we both came across Sherwood Forests's "Log Cabin Suite". The pictures looked great and we wanted to stay close Lake Michigan. We were not disappointed!! We arrived and were greeted by Keith who made us feel right at home and was very interesting to listen to as he talked about a trip to Cambodia and Vietnam his wife and he had just returned from. On the walls on the house you will see photos of some of the places they have been, so don't hesitate to ask because its fascinating. Keith gave us a guide of Saugatuck/Douglas and even though we had been there before, he gave us tips on places we hadn't thought of going to before and were glad we know about them now. Our room was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the hot tub the best we have ever been in because it was BIG and not overly noisy like some of them can be. And the gas fireplace, made the room cozy as we looked through magazines and books that were supplied. There is no TV, but we were aware of that before we arrived and we really liked that fact. However, there is CD player and some CD's you can play for added ambiance. Breakfast the next morning was a treat. Sue served us a Ham and Egg Bake and if I didn't think I would have looked like a pig, I could have ate all the homemade apple cake they had for breakfast as well. Coffee was perfect, along with orange juice. I believe I saw some cereal on the side table as well. The dishes breakfast was served on were unique and beautiful as well. We loved it and I'm sure that we will be back in the winter to stay again. Comfortable, roomy, peaceful, great food, great conversation, in a word...PERFECT!
