We liked everything about it. Its location 2 blocks from Douglas Beach is perfect for walking on the beach, swimming and biking ... and they have bikes available including a tandem. All of proprietor Keith's recommendations were winners, from the short (1.5 m) bike ride south along the lake, to dinner at Everyday People Cafe, to buying a loaf of Salty Seed Bread (made by Salt of the Earth in Fennville) from Summertime Market on our way out of town, and his mapping everything out made for very easy navigating. Keith and Sue were lovely and interesting to chat with, their place is gorgeous and comfortable and when I left some of our things behind, they could not have been nicer or prompter to let me know and mail them back.

The inn is 2 blocks from Douglas Beach, a quiet, beautiful place. It has a lovely porch for reading or stargazing, a quiet pool under the trees, yummy breakfasts, and pleasant innkeepers and also guests. It is a few minutes from downtown Saugatuck so you can visit all the shops and galleries and escape back to complete peace and quiet. Bicycles are available for guests who want to leave their car parked.

We stopped here after dropping our son off in Ann Arbor, two and a half hours away. We didn't want to go directly home and were looking for an escape and a short break before returning east. Sherwood Forest was the perfect escape and B & B. Keith welcomed us and gave us a comprehensive tour of the area. He arranged dinner reservations in Douglas at a lovely restaurant. Stayed in the Rose Room, the smallest, but it was all we needed. Breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit and homemade granola we like. The entire area is interesting and filled with many things to do. We especially loved the dune rides just north of Saugatuk as a way to see the real ecological layout of the area. We had looked forward to lunch at the Red Dock nearby but were disappointed because the owner closed it while we sat there waiting. Saugatuk had many interesting galleries and shops. Douglas has some nice art galleries, but some of these attactions were closed during our stay. Overall, it was the escape we wanted. We recommend the inn and the area and look forward to our return another time.

We enjoyed our time at Sherwood Forest. The people were very friendly, and gave excellent recommendations for places to eat. The room was cozy, and nice (though a little warm- but with the overhead and standing fans it was fine) and perfectly clean and spacious.
The vintage bicycles that you can check out for free were a great touch as well, as everything around is within biking distance. If you want to stick around, the pool is perfectly nice, though the beach is really just a very short walk away
Breakfast was good (as was the dinnerware).
Really our only complaint is a fairly loud banging noise seeming to come from inside the walls that woke both of us up multiple times early both mornings, and made sleeping in the mornings difficult. It did not seem to be doors shutting, though were unable to locate it, and the fans could not drown it out.
Other than that everything was perfect.

What a wonderful place to stay. Spent a few days with my sister and had a fabulous time. Stayed in the TreeTop room. Room was very clean and spacious with beautiful antique furniture and covered with a treehouse mural. Bathroom was also very clean and looked recently updated. Towels and linens were top notch. We were greeted with a glass of wine and given an overview of the area with shopping and dining recommendations. Keith even made dinner reservations for us. Bikes were free to use (we did not but there were plenty of them). Pool area was awesome with lounge chairs and towels provided. Beach was a very short walk away and sunsets were beautiful. The front porch was perfect for relaxing and we even saw several deer cross the road. There was one TV in the main parlor but none in the rooms. Room had a selection of CD's, books and magazines which was a nice touch. Location was just a short drive to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was very yummy with fresh fruit, muffins, and a hot choice each day. I definitely want to go back! Only stayed at a bed and breakfast once before so I wasn't sure what to expect but this experience was wonderful, felt like we were at a resort.

Room Tip: Treetop room was great - only saw inside one other room (Rose) and it looked nice too only Treetop s...

We visited Sherwood Forest B&B in July 2011. We had a wonderful time at this fabulous B&B. Keith and Sue are excellent hosts. The facilities and the breakfasts were spectacular.
A great beach at Lake Michigan is just steps away and if that is not enough the pool is fabulous.

We had a great time and look forward to going back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Log Cabin suite which was fabulous.

We stopped here on the way back from a wedding and loved it. Beautiful old house, very clean rooms, and excellent breakfast. We were pleased to be greeted with a complimentary glass of wine after a long day of travel. Bike rental is free and the owner was pleased to fill us in on where to eat and what to do in the town.
